Frisco ISD Council of PTAs News
JANUARY / FEBRUARY 2025
LETTER FROM DR. WALDRIP
Dear PTA Members,
As we step into 2025, I’m filled with gratitude for the dedicated people who make a difference in
the lives of our students, especially our Frisco ISD PTA members. Your steadfast
advocacy—from organizing enriching experiences for students to showing appreciation for staff
and setting Legislative Priorities—is truly inspiring.
As we kick off the 89th Session of the Texas Legislature this January, the direction of public
education is at the forefront of our minds. Like the PTA, the District is ready to serve as a
resource for legislators and share how proposed bills might impact our staff, students, and the
greater community.
The FISD Board of Trustees recently approved a set of priorities for the 89th Session, built on
input from the FISD Legislative Leadership Committee. These priorities focus on three key
areas: School Finance, Assessment and Accountability, and Student Experience.
You can find the full list of priorities here. It’s no surprise that many of these priorities align with
those of the PTA, reflecting our shared vision for supporting public education.
We know the legislative process can feel overwhelming with all its bills and amendments. That’s
why Frisco ISD is here to be a helpful resource for you and your neighbors. On our FISD
Government Affairs website, you’ll find tools to keep you informed, including:
- An FISD-created Blueprint for the 89th Legislative Session
- A Legislative Dashboard to track proposed public education legislation
- A list of public education bills monitored by the FISD Government Affairs Department
We’re also keeping the updates coming on social media throughout the session, so be sure to
follow us on Facebook (@FISDGovAffairs), Twitter (@FISDGovAffairs), and Instagram
While Frisco ISD doesn’t take official positions on proposed legislation, we’re committed to
being a reliable resource for legislators, much like the advocacy efforts of the Frisco ISD Council
of PTAs. Together, we can keep our community informed and engaged to ensure the best
outcomes for our students.
Thank you for everything you do to support our students, staff, and schools. Here’s to another
great year of collaboration and success!
Warm regards,
Dr. Mike Waldrip

LETTER FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT
Hello Frisco ISD Families!
We hope you all had a wonderful holiday break! It was certainly nice to relax and recharge with our families.
As we begin the spring semester, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our local PTAs and their volunteers for the countless hours spent bringing joy to their campuses this past fall. Across the district, schools hosted book fairs, fun runs, carnivals, programs, dances, and more. Organizing these events is no small feat, and we are incredibly grateful for your dedication. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to create these special experiences for our students!
We, as a Council, are heading into the spring semester full of excitement! From celebrating our talented artists who participated in the Reflections Program in December to hosting Katie Greer’s parent webinar on Navigating the Digital Age in January, we couldn’t be more thrilled for what’s ahead this spring.
That said, Texas PTA Rally Day is quickly approaching on February 24! Rally Day is our opportunity to stand together on the steps of the Capitol and advocate for our Frisco ISD students and teachers. Having said that, we would love nothing more than to have a thunderous voice heading into this important legislative year. We are just shy of our goal of 26,000 Members and if you haven’t joined your local PTA yet, please consider doing so. PTA is more than just an organization—it’s a lifeline that connects schools, families, and communities. We would love for you to be a part of our PTA family!
Lastly, we have several exciting events coming up this spring! We look forward to:
✅ Founder’s Day Celebration
✅ PTA Honorary Life Membership Celebration
✅ PTA Celebration Night at RoughRiders Stadium
✅ Summer Prep Training for incoming local board members
More details will be shared soon, and we can’t wait to celebrate our incredible local campuses while preparing for another great year ahead.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or if you’d like more information about anything in this newsletter.
Joyfully,
Cyndi Arakas

REFLECTIONS
In December, the Frisco ISD Council of PTAs held our annual Reflections Art Show to showcase the 389 art entries that advanced to the Council level from 60 participating Frisco PTAs. Reflections is a National PTA Art Program started in 1969 that is focused on positive recognition to encourage students to explore the arts. Reflections also has an achievement and advancement component. Once entries are received at the local PTA level, they are judged and some are provided an opportunity to advance to a Council, State, and/or National level of judging.
The Frisco Council of PTAs applauds students across our district for exploring the arts and expressing themselves through the PTA Reflections Art Program! We also appreciate parents for encouraging and supporting their child’s participation in the arts! The creativity of our Frisco students is truly inspiring!
Additionally, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the 25 Frisco ISD students whose art has advanced to the Texas PTA Reflections program!
