How Should We Welcome Newcomers
to our Community?
Join us as we open up the Institute for Strengthening Communities* to those who could not commit to the full journey this year. In this session, we will explore the issue, “How should we welcome newcomers to our community?” Participants will be guided in a systematic reflection of their own welcoming practices at the classroom, building, and district levels. They will generate new ideas and consider new ways of building thick communities. Participants explore how the United States addresses this issue through engaging in a Citizen Dialogue and a deliberation, and observing a naturalization ceremony.
