Have you moved?
Have you recently moved? If so, please call our office to notify us and also log-in to Final Forms FinalForms https://mtpleasant-mi.finalforms.com/ and update your address online. We need to change your address for our records and we want to be sure any summer and Back to School mailings get to you, including teacher welcome letters in August!
If your address is no longer a Fancher address, you will need to fill out School of Choice paperwork to stay at Fancher Elementary for the 2024-2025 School Year.
We want to ensure your child's enrollment and classroom placement for next year is not last minute and stressful for you. Please be sure to keep us updated throughout the summer. Leave us a message at 775-2230.
Update on Classroom Environment Requests for 2024-2025
As we attempt to create a healthy environment for all students across our JK-5 elementary buildings, there are many things we must take into consideration. For example, balancing classes by gender, academic performance, behavioral concerns, special needs, peer relations, and learning styles. Teacher input is also crucial to provide us with the information we need to create a successful classroom experience. Since we will not have request forms this year, your student’s current teachers, school counselor and administrative team will collaborate to create the most aligned class lists based on the knowledge they have of all students in each grade level. Please know that we all are working hard to create the most feasible, balanced classrooms for everyone involved. This will allow our students to thrive and receive the best possible learning environment for all. We will take all necessary steps to provide the best placement for your child.
Send in your student with a Water Bottle
As we start to see warmer temperatures it can get warmer in our classrooms. Please be sure to send in a water bottle with your student, so they can keep it filled and stay hydrated throughout the school day!
5th graders Youth Police Academy
Current 5th graders entering 6th grade have an opportunity to apply for the YSU Youth Police Academy. Here are the application and questionnaire for the YSU Youth Police Academy. Forms are also available in the front office, which students can take home and return.
No Student Cell Phones, Hats, Hoods, Ears/Tails
Step 1: If a student is seen or heard with a cell phone, the student will be asked to report to the office to store their phone in a secure location until the end of the school day.
Step 2: On the second and subsequent incidents, the phone will remain in a secure location until a parent is able to pick it up.
Fancher Elementary has an office telephone for students to use in case of an emergency or school related business. Thank you for having a conversation with your student about the cell phone policy.
*We also have a no hats or hoods policy inside the school building, students can wear them outside during recess. (unless special dress up spirit day related)
Summer Scholastic Book Packs
Each Fancher student will be coming home with a book pack to keep reading this summer!
On top of getting outside and enjoying the great outdoors, playing with friends and family we would love for our students to READ this summer as well as work on other activities to help with the summer slide. Summer slide is a term that references the dip students often experience in their academic ability after a summer break. We can't wait to see how your brains GROW after reading this summer. #FalconProud
Dear Parent or Caregiver,
My Books Summer has been designed to help your child maintain their reading skills over the summer break, a time when many students fall behind their grade levels. We hope that you will support your child’s daily reading, so we are sending home books for your child to read, enjoy, and keep for their home library.
There are many ways to help your child grow as a reader, but the most important is to help establish a routine of daily reading. You might want to help your child set up a time and place for this, establishing a consistent habit that will allow for concentration and immersion in the pleasures of reading. It’s also important to talk with your child about what he or she has read, ask questions, encourage discussions, and help with comprehension as needed. If your child is already an enthusiastic reader, elicit opinions and ideas that are sparked by their reading.
If your child is a reluctant reader, it may be helpful to read certain books together, or for you to read the book on your own and then sit down with your child to discuss it. If you retell your own favorite details, read aloud favorite passages, or ask your own questions about the book, it will set an example for your child to begin to develop their own abilities to analyze and evaluate texts. The Summer Reading Journal and Think Sheets will help your child with their summer reading goals—and will make it easy for you to support your child’s efforts.
We thank you for helping your child make a habit of daily reading and enjoying books. Summer reading is an important way to help your child transition to the next school year.
Sincerely,
Fancher Staff

Fancher Falcons SOAR
We kicked of 2024 at Fancher Elementary reviewing SOAR (Safety Ownership Attitude Respect), to teach and reinforce positive behavior expectations in all areas of the school from the classroom to the playground. Each area of our school day, has a focused set up positive expectations that we teach, model, and practice - on what Safety looks like, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect.
Our SOAR matrix is at the front of your student's agenda in the pages include for the student handbook, we encourage you to review these expectations at home with your child too.
Daily our students earning Dojo Points for meeting positive expectations, we recognize students who are SOARing with our Positive Office Referrals, Positive Postcards mailed home, and SOAR Student Shout Outs each month.
We know our students are still growing and developing mentally and socially, so we recognize it is always a work in progress when teaching and reteaching expectations. We utilize restorative practices - including repairing the harm, circle ups, and more.
We appreciate your partnership in supporting our Fancher Falcons to SOAR!
