Stars Football Family,

It's a winter wonderland out there, and for those who like snow, I am sure this is a welcomed sight. Personally, I am more of a palm trees and sunset guy, so I will keep my personal feelings aside. As we close out the month of January I want to take a moment to say thank you to our players for trusting in our leadership and investing their time to become 1% better each day. While we can never guarantee victories we can promise that if we all focus on our personal improvement then as a group we will grow exponentially. It is the 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1 rule.

Even though it's the middle of the winter our football players are hard at work building their minds, body, and spirit each day in the weight room and gyms. In short, they are preparing! Not coincidently, this week we will be focusing on our Northstar value of preparation. We will take a moment each session to discuss what preparation looks, feels, and sounds like. Additionally, this week will be taking each session to show our players what the outcome of preparation can be. This week is our Pound 4 Pound challenge. It is the culmination of the maximum strength phase of lifting. Our players have put forth hours of investment into their development. This week they will get to test out our 3 major lifts to see the return on their investment. Each player will be getting a t-shit, and we will be writing their pound-for-pound ratio onto the back of the shirt. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect the dots as an athlete. As a leader, the importance of highlighting these moments cannot be understated. It is moments like this that we must press pause and show our players that our beliefs can shape our behaviors and our behaviors can determine our outcomes. I hope you take a moment to discuss this with your son and maybe share a moment when your dots in life connected. Have a wonderful week and ROLL STARS!!

Saturday, February 11th, is date night. The Stars will be out! Drop the kids off at SCN and let the Stars staff and players take care of them while you go out and have a bite to eat. The St. Charles North Football program is pleased to announce it 2nd annual Parent Nite Out Football Skills camp for ages 2nd - 8th grade. You do not want to miss this fun and age-appropriate skills camp.

1. Campers will be split into two age groups.

2. All skills need no experience or equipment

3. Fun games and challenges with prizes

4. Free parting gift for all attendees

5. Player meet and greet and autograph session.

St. Charles North Football will run its 8th annual Leadership Academy for Varsity football players during the winter and spring months. Coach Pomazak will bring in leadership expert Jim Bloch to run the 5 1 hour sessions. This curriculum this year will be a masters-level cohort. Only 15 players will be accepted into the academy. There is no cost this year for participation. Details of times and locations will be delivered shortly. Interested players can sign up below

We try to stay connected all year in the St. Charles North Football program. When our winter sports athletes compete for the Stars, those not in season work in the weight room and gyms. It is an excellent opportunity to build relationships away from the football field. Each week culminates with an Elite Leader being named. The best part of the award is that the player from the week prior is the one who names the recipient. It is an extraordinary moment when our players highlight each other. I am excited to see who gets the opportunity to be called an "Elite Leader" this off-season.

Jesse Moreno '24 is our Stars Elite Leader of the week. Name by previous winner Kaden Alvarado, Jesse has exemplified the North Star Mentality over the past three months. His investment, leadership, and accountability have been ELITE! Jesse was a starting guard for the 10-2 stars this past year. He will be considered a team leader for the 2023 version of the North Stars. Congratulations Jesse !

Congratulations to Henry Warsaw on his commitment to Division 2 Minnesota State Mankato. Henry will join former Star Jordan Bergren '14 as the only two players to attend this storied program. Minnesota State played for the division 2 national championship in 2019

The NCAA D1 FBS contact period has started. That means colleges can schedule times to visit with the 2024 recruits. In the coming weeks, we will have an excellent opportunity to get our players in front of some of the best and brightest colleges in the country. Our protocol for college visits is as follows.

1. Coach Pomazak emails administration scheduled visits for the coming day, including which students have been asked to attend by visiting college coach.

2. Students will receive a pass before the scheduled visit.

3. Students will only have 15 minutes to visit. This will help limit the loss of instructional time.

4. If students have any assessments during the visit, they are not permitted to come.

5. Teachers have the right to ask students not to leave class.

6. Students should refrain from missing the same class twice a row.

This past Thursday, the Stars football program participated in the Future Freshman Activities and Athletics Night. Thank you to the players who made the evening so special. Bill Durocher, '18 OLB / TE made his verbal commitment to attend and play football for FBS Division 1 Liberty University. Bill was an all-conference and all-area for the state finalist team in 2018. Billy went on to Saddleback Community College in California, were he received 2nd team all-sectional. Congrats to Bill on this great achievement.

Congratulation to RB Jordan Nubin '20 on receiving a full scholarship at Minnesota! Jordan was a preferred walk-on and he worked his way into a scholarship opportunity! Well deserved.
