Superintendent Community Update
September 6, 2024
Superintendent's Message
Dear JUHSD Community,
As we begin September, we want to emphasize the importance of planning for the future, especially for our 12th graders. At JUHSD, we are dedicated to supporting our students as they explore their college and career options to find the path that’s right for them.
To help you get started, we encourage students to schedule a meeting with their academic counselor. Your counselor is a valuable resource in navigating your post-secondary plans and discussing your goals and options. Additionally, take advantage of the Career Technical Education (CTE) classes available on your campus. These classes offer hands-on experience and insights into various career paths. Click here to view the CTE Newsletter.
Another excellent resource is the CaliforniaColleges.edu website, which provides tools and information on colleges, financial aid, and academic planning. Don’t forget to visit the College and Career Center on your campus, where you can find information on colleges, scholarships, internships, and more.
We are also excited to invite you to our College and Career Fair at Serramonte Mall on October 17th from 5 pm to 7 pm. This event will feature representatives from various colleges and career fields, offering you the chance to gather information and ask questions.
It’s never too early to start discussing post-secondary options. Our dedicated counselors and staff are here to support and guide you every step of the way. We look forward to helping our students achieve their goals and prepare for a bright future!
Remember that my door is always open, and I am here to support you.
Warm regards,
Toni Presta

Scam Email/Text Messages
We encourage you to take the following precautions to safeguard yourself and your family from scam emails and text messages:
Exercise Extreme Caution: Be particularly careful when opening emails, especially if they contain unexpected attachments or suspicious links.
Avoid Clicking: Do not click on links or open attachments from emails that seem suspicious or are from unfamiliar senders.
Verify Unusual Requests: If you receive an email that appears to come from a known contact but seems unusual or out of character, verify its authenticity by reaching out to the sender directly using a trusted phone number or by meeting them in person.
Report Suspicious Activity: Notify your school site administration immediately if you encounter any suspicious emails or texts.
Our Technology Department is actively working to prevent scam emails and texts by employing firewalls and other security measures. Your vigilance plays a crucial role in keeping our community safe.
The Terra Nova Tigers had a 24-6 victory over the Jefferson Grizzlies last Friday.
Adult Education organized an Ice Cream Social to welcome back students.
Terra Nova's Rally was a great way to start off the school year, from the electric cheers to the incredible performances. Tiger Pride!
Oceana art students are absolutely sculpt-tacular! They channeled their creativity into crafting stunning soap sculptures that are nothing short of masterpieces.
