Owl Pellets in Kindergarten!
Mrs Emmons shared the experience of dissecting owl pellets with her Kindergarten classroom. She taught them all about what an owl pellet is, how it was formed and why. The children watched videos of owls actually coughing up owl pellets as well! After that it was time to dissect the ones she bought for them. They learned how to gently break them apart and search for different types of bones. Pick away the fur and feathers to discover full skulls, spines and other bones of the animals that the owls ate. Then they used special cards to help identify a possible animal or animals that was in their pellet . The children had so much fun. They are then displayed in a safe way so the kids can take them home and share with their families. It was a great day!

YRBS Survey
Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS)
Grades 6-8
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Our school is taking part in the 2025 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) . This was developed in 1991 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is sponsored by the Vermont Department of Health and Agency of Education. The YRBS gathers information about health risk behaviors of 6th through 12th grade students. Schools, communities, and state agencies will use the results of the survey to evaluate programs, plan new programs and to secure future funding. We are planning to administer the survey to our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students on February 10-13. If you would like to see the survey, a copy is available to view here. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please complete the opt out form and return it to Kristen Hersey in the School Counselor’s Office. Copies of the opt out form were sent home and are also available to download here
Forms must be returned by February 7, 2025.
