Dear CVUSD Community:
December is always an extra special time in the Conejo - a time when there is no shortage of opportunities to join together for special school community-building events and gatherings. Over the past few weeks, we’ve watched our student-musicians shine on the stage in exciting theatre productions, captivating choral performances and moving instrumental concerts. We have also had the opportunity to gather together on the bleachers, poolside and courtside to cheer on our student-athletes in core-memory-making moments, as they’ve excelled and captured new titles and impressive awards. Yet, the best part remains the day to day learning and relationship-building that takes place in our classrooms with our innovative teachers engaging our learners through hands-on lessons that will catapult our students to achieving the future of their dreams.
As we prepare to complete the final days of learning in the 2024 calendar year, I wanted to share my gratitude to you for your dedication and commitment to our scholars’ success. Our engaged community of shareholders: parents/guardians, teachers, staff members, students and volunteers is what sets us apart from other places of learning. Our commitment to educational excellence runs deep, and it has been incredible to see the growth and innovation taking place in our District over the last 12 months. However, there is always more to do - and I look forward to seeing all that 2025 has in store for us as a District.
Thank you for being a valuable part of this CVUSD community. I hope you have a wonderful winter break and wish you a happy holiday season!
Sincerely,
Dr. Mark McLaughlin
Proud Superintendent, Conejo Valley Unified School District

Pursuant to Education Code Section 17388, before excess real estate property is sold or leased, the Governing Board of a school district must appoint an Advisory Committee to advise the Governing Board on the disposition of the property. Education Code Section 17389 requires that the Advisory Committee be composed of not less than seven (7) and no more than eleven (11) members. This commonly is called a Surplus Property “7-11” Committee. The Committee will review the use(s) of the Property, consider community input on acceptable uses, and forward its recommendations to the Governing Board. The Governing Board will then consider the Committee’s recommendations and decide what to do with the Property.
Community members, Parents/Guardians of students, and CVUSD teachers/administrators are sought to serve on this Committee, which will be reviewing the following properties:
- Triunfo School – 975 Evenstar Ave, Westlake Village CA 91361

- 711 Rancho Conejo Road, Newbury Park CA 91320

📸 Inclusion, Sportsmanship & Fun: Unified Bocce Returns to the Conejo!
Inclusion, sportsmanship and fun were at the core of last week's Annual Unified Bocce Tournament! Teams of Athletes and Unified Partners from our Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools: Newbury Park High School, Thousand Oaks High School and Westlake High School faced off in Panther Stadium with a supportive and encouraging crowd cheering them on. In preparation for the Tournament, the teams typically practice once a week where training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship between Athletes and Unified Partners. Way to go Athletes and Unified Partners!
🏆
A heartfelt thank you to all the coaches, volunteers, and supporters who made this event possible. Your dedication helps to ensure that all students have the opportunity to shine and achieve their best. Next up? The Annual Unified Soccer Tournament this winter.
