Principal's Message
We hope everyone is staying warm and have successfully climbed out of the snow that fell this past weekend. In being intentional with looking out for one another, while excitement is in the air, it can be overwhelming for some knowing that we are exactly one month away from Christmas.
Last week was highlighted by our monthly School Council meeting on Tuesday, the Assurance Review with the Board of Trustees on Wednesday, and our Awards Ceremony honouring and celebrating recipients from the 2023-24 school year on Thursday.
We had a good conversation at school council and again, all are welcome. The annual Assurance Review is an opportunity for our elected Board of officials, along with Senior Administration from EIPS to review data from the past year and for us in the schools to advocate for areas of support. As a note, we will begin to populate data on the website, from the past 1-3 years, on our school website. It will include data from Provincial achievement data, engagement surveys, assurance data, and our school education plan, which will be shifting this year. With data and being in the public sector, there are areas of strength and challenges we need to improve on. What is important is the data is transparent and that all of the stakeholders have access and input on decisions moving forward.
Last week was also Bully Awareness week across Elk Island Public Schools. We had different activities throughout the week highlighted by our guest presenter on Friday, a breakdancer that used dance for the purpose to show how dance is used as a positive outlet to express emotion through body language and get out anger or frustration through movement. Even a few staff were showing off their moves in the gym. I am pleased to announce that none of the staff injured themselves…
In support of our LOGOS programming, this is the final week to get your hot lunch order in for Little Caesars on December 18th.

In closing, and as mentioned, we understand that this time of year can be difficult for our families. With student fee reminders recently being posted, should you have any questions or are in need of a payment plan or waiving of your child’s school fee directly, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.
Have an awesome last week of November!
