WHAT IS NEW IN KINDERGARTEN....
- The kinder team has started something fun called Wacky Wednesday! During this time children join a designated teacher for a small group lesson outside of their own classroom for about 15 minutes. The goals of Wacky Wednesday are to provide students with a change of scenery while still providing a great lesson for them and to make it fun which increases their engagement. All students love to travel to other classrooms for important errands, free choice afternoon centers and indoor recess. Now they get to do it for a small group lesson with a mix of friends from all the rooms! The instruction they are receiving is not different and is geared to their learning. We are excited to report that they are loving it, having a great time, and doing very well. We are truly excited to make this opportunity available for your children! -The Kindergarten Team
Today your child completed a sound and spelling assessment. The assessment helps me identify...
Which sounds the students have mastered
Which sounds we will continue to work on
How the students are spelling CVC words
How the students are spelling words using sound-spelling patterns
The assessment also gives me a good understanding of the way the students are forming the letters. Please look over the assessment and use it as a tool to recognize which letters and sounds you need to focus on with your child at home. You can find the assessment in your child’s red folder. Thank you for all that you do to support your child’s learning!

Friendly reminders....
- Red folders will be sent home everyday and should be returned to school the next day. Please check your students red folder every night. This will be my way to quickly communicate, send home important papers and send home your students fabulous school work! Please take out any of the papers that are on the "Home" side and keep them at home. Any papers on the "School" side can be returned to school after they are completed. Thank you for your help!
- Please let your child know if they have lunch money in their account and if you would like them to buy lunch or get a snack. **Ice cream is only on Fridays
- Library books are supposed to live in your students backpack when they are not reading them. In order to keep the books in good condition, please keep your students library book in the plastic white bag that they received from the library inside their backpack. We have library on Wednesdays.
- I had told the kids that if they read the sight word, little reader books, or the letter books that we go over in class with an adult at home and the adult signed it, I would give them a sand dollar. The students have been really excited to show me what they are reading at home and I can see their confidence when reading beginning to grow. This makes my teacher heart so happy! Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this.
- Please work with your child on packing and unpacking their items in their backpacks. With folders, lunch boxes, snack, and library books all in the backpack at once, packing up can be tricky for some students. It would be helpful to work on this skill at home so that packing up runs a bit smoother. Thank you!
