Word for the Warrior...
This article helps hold up a mirror and encourages us to ask the tough questions that keep us focused:
*Am I approaching each day with hope?
*How do the words that I say and the actions that I take align to my beliefs about my role as an educator-to support all students? (a focus on learning)
*How do my actions support what I believe about collaboration with my colleagues? (a focus on collaboration)
*How does my response to student learning inform my next steps in supporting students? (a focus on results)
When we choose to have a positive attitude with and for students and when we choose to respond with hope and trust in collaborating with our colleagues, it can't help but to inspire hope and confidence in US as well!
Keep on Keeping On! Let's FINISH STRONG!

JSMS Jam...
From Dr. Ailshie:
I inadvertently told your faculties something that wasn’t correct. I told them that the county bonds were sold last week and that we might get the funds by the end of this month. I learned this morning that the sale was changed to March 28th. That means we will probably not get the funds for another 30 days. Please correct this for me as I don’t want anyone to have a misunderstanding.
Thanks.

IMPORTANT STATE EDUCATOR SURVEY
Teachers…..
Please pay attention to your emails and even look in your spam and deleted items (in case you deleted this). The survey below is being emailed out to teachers across the state again and Dr. Ailshie would like 100% participation in this survey.
If you remember, we have completed this survey in the past. I believe it comes out every two years. The last time we did this, several of you did not receive the email and had to email the state. We need to do all we can to request a link. I haven’t received my email and apparently, we should have already received this link. Please try to find the link and complete it or….click on the link below to request a new email.
All links to the survey are personalized, so you should not forward your link to anyone else. Please direct any teachers in your school who haven’t received their individual survey link to click here to access our online system and request that their individual link be resent.

Employee Recognition
This year, there is a new way to highlight the work of these outstanding educators! The KCS Employee Recognition Initiative serves to award those that go above and beyond in their service to the students, staff, and families of KCS.
How can you nominate an employee for this honor?
Simply submit a nomination form to your principal/supervisor by clicking here!
Innovation Tool
KCS has developed a new innovation tool to allow all stakeholders to share an idea (new or could be an improvement on a current practice). Sometimes a great idea comes to mind and when we collaborate on it, it gets even better. This tool can assist us in "giving legs" to those great thoughts. If you are like me, these are the ideas that keep you awake at night, but sometimes feel impossible. Lose sleep no longer! Your idea can be submitted and it can help our district constantly grow and develop.
The KCS new Innovation Tool is up and running. KCS wants your ideas! This tool is active for use. It can be accessed here.
Warrior Whoop!
*A BIG thank you to our PTA and to all the parents who provided food and served our JSMS staff lunch on Friday! We appreciate you and all that you do for our school!
*Thank you to Barberitos of Kingsport for providing lunch to our teachers (through PTA) at such a great deal! Thank you for supporting John Sevier Middle School!
*When thinking about the many amazing faculty members we have at Sevier, it was really difficult to pick just one person for this week's WOW award. However, one person continued to stand out in my mind, Erika Slaughter.Erika always has a positive attitude that is contagious to everyone who comes in contact with her. There is no one better to be the first person parents and students see when they enter our building. Erika deals with the fast pace demands of the front office with positivity and efficiency. She is John Sevier's daily front line and there is no doubt she should receive this week's WOW award.
Kristen Bridwell
*Thank you to all who participated in Walk of the Warrior-our orientation for rising 6th graders! Thank you especially to Marty Meade (and also to Michelle Loudermilk!) for organizations and set up!
*Thank you to Angela Miller and to our JSMS Chorus for their participation in our City-Wide Choral Concert!
