Highlights from May 14, 2024, Meeting
8th Graders Reflect on their Days at DPM
Prior to graduation, a group of DPM eighth graders joined Superintendent Dr. Matthew L. Montgomery and shared their middle school memories as part of the Graduating 8th Grader Roundtable. The informal conversation provided students with a unique opportunity to reflect on their time at Deer Path, allowing Dr. Montgomery to better understand the needs and aspirations of students at DPM. The students’ perspectives on academics, extracurricular activities, milestones, and challenges, are invaluable and will have a direct impact on future decisions made by school administrators, shaping student life at DPM for years to come.
4th Graders “Add” to Success of Annual Math Fair
At Cherokee, fourth graders recently embarked on an exciting journey with the Math Fair Project. Over the course of two months, students dove into investigations on how mathematics impacts their daily lives. The culmination of their hard work and creativity was showcased at the Math Fair held on Friday, May 24. We commend our 4th grade Cherokee Cheetahs for their perseverance and dedication to this enriching long-term project, which aimed to foster problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
Sheridan's Learning Walk an Educational Expedition for Participants
On May 16, Sheridan hosted the District 67’s second Learning Walk, showcasing instructional innovation and student engagement across the school. Led by school administrators and instructional coaches, Board members and participants from the Superintendent’s Advisory Council had the chance to witness firsthand the dynamic learning environments within our classrooms. The Learning Walk provided valuable insights into teaching methodologies and student response, concluding with a Q&A with Sheridan teachers and students.

Walk Your Wheels
Walk your wheels applies to everyone, Lake Forest! Riders must dismount and walk their devices within the Central Business District boundaries to avoid a fine of up to $300 per offense. Last year, Lake Forest City Council approved an ordinance prohibiting the use of recreational powered devices (electric scooters, electric bikes, etc.) on sidewalks in the Central Business District.
