2. PUBLIC HEARING | AMENDED BUDGET '23-'24
On February 13, 2024, the Board of Education voted to abate the working cash fund in the amount of $1,900,000 to be transferred to the debt service fund. This transfer requires the District to amend the 2023-24 budget that was approved by the Board at the meeting held on September 26, 2023.
An amended budget must follow the same process and legal requirements (105 ILCS 5/17-1) as the original budget, therefore, the schedule for potential adoption of this amended budget is as follows:
- April 9, 2024 | Present 2023-24 tentative amended budget
- Prior to April 12, 2024 | Publish notice for public hearing
- May 14, 2024 | Public Hearing (THIS AGENDA ITEM)
- May 14, 2024 | Adoption of final amended budget

The Board and administration recognized and celebrated the employees who are retiring from District 25. School Principals and Administrators shared a few words about each individual as they were recognized and thanked for their service to the Arlington Heights community.

8. CONSENT AGENDA
MOTION: APPROVED
That the Board of Education approve those items on the Consent Agenda as follows: (A) Personnel Report and Addendum to Personnel Report; (B) Treasurer's Report (C) Invoices; (D) Fixed Asset Disposal Report; (E) Regular and Closed Session Meeting Minutes of April 9, 2024.With the approval of the consent agenda, the District hired a new Associate Principal at Thomas Middle School, Jeremy Fischer.

9. STUDENT LEARNING

That the Board of Education approve the elementary literacy curriculum adoption as presented.At the April 6, 2024 school board meeting, Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning, Dr. Becky FitzPatrick, and Literacy and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Coordinator, Sharon Nelles, presented a review of District 25's Literacy Program and a proposal for the Board to consider of implementing the preferred pilot program, HMH Into Reading, as the new District 25 elementary comprehensive literacy resource for reading, writing, & word study.
The Board voted to approve the proposal at this meeting.

A. Award of Bid for Furniture
That the Board of Education award the bid for furniture to be funded through the IDEA grant funds to Frank Cooney in the amount of $123,658.30.At the March 12, 2024 meeting, the Board of Education approved the furniture replacement plan totaling $1.63 million + installation/delivery. Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, Stacey Mallek, presented the bids to be funded through the IDEA grant funds at this meeting.

B. 2024-25 Consolidated District Plan
That the Board of Education approve the Consolidated District Plan for Fiscal Year 2024-25 as presented.
The Consolidated District Plan (CDP) allows recipients of federal grants to answer one set of planning questions to meet the requirements of the following federal formula grants: Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV, Title V, IDEA and IDEA preschool. District 25 receives funding through all of these grants except Title V.
Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, Stacey Mallek, presented a CDP to be approved by the Board of Education.

C. Award for Bid for Food & Nutrition Services
That the Board of Education award the bid for Food Service Equipment to Boelter for $218,458.41.School districts that operate federal meal programs are required to formally procure food service equipment when the estimated dollar value exceeds $25,000 (2 CFR 200). Bids were solicited for food serving equipment at Patton and food preparation/transport equipment for South & Thomas Middle Schools.

Public Comments
Anyone who wishes to make a public comment can do so, in-person, at our Board of Education meetings. The Board hosts two public comment opportunities on their agenda: 1) at the beginning of the meeting, prior to any agenda items, 2) at the end of the meeting after the agenda items have been discussed/presented.
