Dear Bateman Families & Friends
We are so grateful for everyone who planned, contributed to, and attended the annual Bateman Spring Fling! This year's event was such a beautiful celebration of our school community and we appreciate all of the efforts in making it a memorable evening for our students!
This week is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week! This is a special opportunity to highlight the heart, compassion, and support our staff provides every single child on a daily basis. Our educators create a home away from home for our children, greet their students with a welcoming smile everyday and do their very best to guide our children towards a successful future. From our homeroom teachers, to our lunchroom staff, support staff, and more - every adult in this building plays an integral role in your child's day.
Please help us in making every single one of our educators - and yes - they are all educators! - feel extra special this week. Each day, there is a unique way that our whole community can share their appreciation for these inspiring people. Please see below or click here for all details on how to participate fully in the celebration to #ThankATeacher.
Warmly,
Ms. Davos & Ms. Kloepper
Let’s Show BIG Love for Our Teachers & Staff!
Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is almost here—and this year, we want to go all out. Our goal? To gift every single teacher and staff member a well-deserved thank-you in the form of a gift card.
These are the amazing people who go above and beyond for our kids every day—let’s return the favor and show them just how much they mean to us.
How You Can Help:
We’re collecting donations from families to make this happen. Every dollar brings us closer to celebrating every staff member—from classroom teachers to aides, custodians, office staff, and more.
Whether it’s $5, $20, or more—every contribution counts and makes a difference!
Let’s come together as a community to say:
“We see you. We appreciate you. And we’re so grateful for all you do.”
Donate today and help us make Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week truly unforgettable!
Congratulations to our Spanish Oratory Finalists!
David Carreto, Theo Buck, and Madeleine Maier represented Bateman on at the Spanish Oratory Semifinals at Cooper Elementary School on April 22 and 23. Each of them competed against 25-40 other students in their grade bands. Each student memorized, created dramatic gestures for, and performed a Spanish poem. Congratulations to David, Theo, and Madeleine, and we look forward to sending more representatives to next year's event!
Chess Finals
On Saturday, April 26, 8 Bateman Chess players traveled to St. Rita High School for the final full-team Chicago Chess Foundation tournament. Congratulations to Intermediate players Nico C. and Kalen A. Nico got 3.5 points and earned a 9th place medal, while Kalen went undefeated with 3 wins and 2 draws, finishing in 3rd place and winning another trophy. And in his final team tournament after 8 years on the Bateman Chess Team, Gabriel J. finished in 5th place in the Advanced section with 2.5 points! Congratulations to all chess team players on another successful year of Bateman Chess!
Lotería Night
On the evening of Wednesday, April 30, Bateman's BAC celebrated Día del Niño with a Mexican Lotería Night. Families from every grade level played four rounds of lotería (similar to bingo) called by Ms. Kloepper, Mr. Argueta, Ms. Rosales, and our BAC secretary Ms. Herrera. Winners received goody bags of Mexican treats and everyone got a chance to swing at a piñata donated by Cermak Fresh Market. Thank you to the BAC for putting on such a fun celebration, and thank you also to Pizza y Pan Pa'Ya for selling pizza and empanadas at the event!
Career Day Highlights
Thank you to our 16 community members for volunteering for the Middle School Career Fair! 5th-8th Graders had a great opportunity to explore a wide variety of careers from our very own parent and community!
