Character Counts at Green!

Students are nominated by a school staff member for exemplifying our trait of the month. They earn a brag tag and their picture on social media. Congratulations to the following students for showing respect during the month of August:

Arrival and Dismissal Information

PLEASE DISPLAY YOUR CAR RIDER SIGN FROM THE REAR VIEW MIRROR SO WE CAN MAKE DISMISSAL QUICKER. ADDTIONAL CAR RIDER SIGNS CAN BE OBTAINED FROM THE OFFICE.

Family Food Pantry

Our Family School Pantry will be Thursday, Sept. 12 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. as a drive-through at the back of John R. Wooden Middle School. Families should enter the school's one-way road off of Sycamore Street. A volunteer will write down a few pieces of information and then offer a variety of items. These items will then be placed in your vehicle. Future food pantry dates this year are Oct. 10, Nov. 14, Dec. 12, Jan. 9, Feb. 13, March 13, April 10, and May 15.

Grandparents' Night

The annual Green Township Elementary Grandparents' Night will take place on September 25. The PTO will begin serving food at 5:00 in the gym. Classrooms will open up at 6:00, and the book fair will be available in the library from 6:00-7:30.

Penny War Fundraiser!!

Join us in a little friendly competition to see which class can bring in the most pennies. Starting on September 23, students will have one week to add pennies to their classes jar. Pennies will add to a classes total while other coins (and dollars) can be used to subtract from another classes total. All money collected will be donated to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center in Honor of Rebeccah Lowe who is part of our Green Township family and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Honor Choir Performance

Students from Green Township Elementary will join students from across the MSD of Martinsville in a districtwide choral performance. Please support our students on Tuesday, October 1st at the high school. Performers will arrive at 5:15 and the show begins at 7:00.

Clinic Updates

Medication: If your student will need to have medicine administered at school, a guardian must drop off the medicine at the office and sign a Medication Instruction and Permission Form from the office. Please do not send medication to school with your student. All medication must be in the original container and age appropriate.

Medical concerns: Please fill out the Medical Concern Information Sheet (available at the front office) only if you need to make us aware of specific medical concerns or allergies.

Free and Reduced Meal Applications

Free and Reduced Meal Plan applications are available online. Paper applications are available by contacting Mrs. Cramer at the front office.

Angie Lucas is the MSD of Martinsville's Benefit Support Specialist; she can assist with any questions at 765-342-6641 ext. 1035.

Volunteering at Green

All volunteers MUST have a background check on file in order to participate in class parties, field trips, etc. The background check should be done in advance and cannot be done the day of an event. Please contact Mrs. Cramer for a form and more information.

A driver's license is also required for our new Verkada guest check-in station. This procedure will be completed for each volunteer activity.

A New Way to Communicate

ParentSquare is the MSD of Martinsville’s new tool to communicate with Artesian families.

Families may register for an account and set their preferences for how they’d like to receive messages from us. For example, many parents only want to receive a text, while others prefer email, and others choose both. You can also get notifications via the app.

In emergencies or when notifying school families is urgent, ParentSquare will use all methods of contact, including a phone call, text, email, and app notification.

If you do not have an email from the MSD of Martinsville inviting you to create a ParentSquare account, please notify your community.relations@msdmartinsville.org and we will send you the invitation. While you do not need to create an account to receive messages from us, you will have greater flexibility to tailor the ways you receive messages from us if you have an account.

Once you have created an account, there are additional resources available to help you tailor your account to meet your own preferences.
