PCPS Family Mass
All PCPS families are invited to celebrate a special PCPS Family Mass at Our Lady of the Mission on Sunday, June 9 at 10.00am. At this Mass the families from Padbury CPS will be participating in all parts of the Mass. This is a special mass so we really would like all families to attend. We only have two of these masses per year so I ask all families to make a big effort to come along.
Thankyou to all children and parents who have volunteered for special roles during the mass, it is very much appreciated. Also a huge thanks to Severine Gibson and Liz de Haas for the great work they have done in organising this mass with the parish.
Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Sacred Heart of Jesus, which falls on 7 June this year, has one of the deepest meanings in the Catholic church. The symbol represents Jesus Christ's physical heart as His love for all of humanity. Other symbols may have a flame or light surrounding it, which signifies the divine light of love.
As we pray to the Holy Spirit and Jesus, may we ask for our hearts to be filled with love and kindness and share our love with all those we encounter as we live out our school motto of ‘Love One Another’.
Padbury Cares
Padbury Cares co ordinators Liz de Haas and Chimika Chibiliti continue to work hard behind the scenes with the Leadership Team to ensure that families within our own school community, who are in need, are being looked after. Thank you so much Liz and Chimika.
Padbury Cares is a group of parent and staff volunteers, who provide assistance to families in our school community during a time of need (either short or long term) due to illness, bereavement, family crisis, birth of a newborn or any type of change. Thankyou to our volunteers, you make such a difference in the lives of others.
If you can offer assistance in any way throughout 2023, we would love for you to volunteer. Please head to our school website-
Some examples of help that we offer are: providing a simple family meal or lunch that is delivered to the school office; transport of children to and from school; ironing, cleaning, shopping, baking, gardening, dog walking etc.
Generally, we would ask people to help once a semester and it mostly providing meals. Many hands make light work and your help really does make a difference.
If you are in need of some assistance or know of someone who requires some assistance, please Mrs Ellen at the office.
This is a very confidential pastoral care programme and no details are shared.
PCPS Netball
PCPS has a fabulous netball programme at the school.
I would like to say a huge thankyou to Lan Nguyen who is the president of the PCPS Netball Club and to all coaches, assistant coaches and team managers who all generously give up their time for our players for this winter sport. You are awesome!
Our PCPS netball teams have been playing their hearts out and each fortnight team results and some photos will be shared with the PCPS community via our newsletter.
Please check the sport section for the latest results. Go Teams!
Cross Country
Our school Cross Country was held on Wednesday and the children had a lot of fun taking part in this event. Many thanks to our Sport Teacher Mr John Hignett and to all the staff and parents who have been helping at morning training and who assisted during the event.
Have a lovely weekend.

Term 2 Fundraiser
This term our fundraiser will be held on Thursday 20 June.
The theme for our fundraiser is “Coins for a Cause.” The money we raise will go to ‘Wheelchair for Kids’ and to the ‘St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal.’
We ask that all students come in free dress on that day and bring a gold coin for a donation. On the same day we invite all students to bring in another gold coin and participate in making the longest Coin Line.
Wheelchairs for Kids is a volunteer-based not-for-profit organisation providing the transformative gift of mobility to children in impoverished and under resourced communities both in Australia and around the globe. Help us support this worthy cause and make a difference in the lives of mobility impaired children and their families around the world.
The St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal supports those families in Western Australia who are struggling at the moment to afford the basics of life, such as housing and food. There has been an overwhelming need for emergency relief in the community, with a growing number of first-time callers seeking help in the current cost-of living crisis. Help us to support those less fortunate than ourselves and give generously. Together we can make a difference.

Hepburn Ave Cycle Path
A number of lucky Year 5 students were chosen to attend the opening of the State Government funded Hillarys Cycle Network Expansion from Hillarys Boat Harbour to Gibson Ave. The children got the chance to try out the new path on their bikes.
Padbury CPS has registered for 'Your Move', a program that encourages students of all ages to walk, cycle or scooter to school. This new cycle path and the encouragement of the Year 6 student leaders through Your Move, will hopefully encourage students to travel to school by ways other than a car.

Sustainability
WasteSorted Grant $5,500
PCPS has been successful in obtaining a WasteSorted grant introducing a small community gardening area into the early childhood area as well as worming and composting throughout the whole school. This will provide students, staff and parents an area to be together and participate in sustainable practices. Long term, it is proposed to provide a market garden where the students will be able sell produce from the gardens as well as worm wee to our school community.
We also plan to implement composting stations and worm farming across the school to increase our education and practice to reduce organic waste and landfill. We anticipate that educating our students on reducing food waste and encouraging better waste practices will continually reduce our contribution to landfill.
Woolworths Grant $1,000
"Connecting With Senses""
PCPS has also been successful in obtaining a Woolworths grant for another small project in the early childhood area. The project will be located on the eastern fence line changing an existing area into a living space, assisting social and emotional regulation. This space will be designed for the children to be calm and interact with their senses in a therapeutic garden.

Screen Time Challenges....
Is screen time a challenge in your family? These five simple tips will help you to restore the balance and will provide your children with the skills to manage in todays wired world.
- Be a role model – your children will do as you do. They gravitate towards the behaviour modeled by their parents so set a good example and limit your screen time first.
- Set a timetable – explain why excessive screen time is harmful and agree on a timetable for use with your children
- Encourage other activities – share the importance of staying active – provide opportunities and again role model the desired behaviour
- Be involved in their lives – play games with your children, read to them, cook together, actively listen to them. Your children will feel more secure and connected to you when you spend quality time with them.
- Value family time – make screen free family time a priority. Disconnect with the rest of the world and reconnect with each other.
