Executive Headteachers message to parents
Dear Parent/Carer,
I have had a wonderful two weeks since I last wrote to you. It is lovely to see how smart the children look in their school uniform and how quickly they have settled back into school routines. I am slowly getting to know your children and their lovely, friendly smiles and warm greetings have been a sight to behold. Thank you, parents and carers, for your kind words of welcome and support. The staff at St Charles have also been incredibly kind and welcoming and I look forward to working with the whole school community to ensure that our school vision becomes a reality.
Thanks to all who have attended the class curriculum meetings to date. I was fortunate to meet some of you at the recent Upper Key Stage two meeting which detailed Year 5/6 expectations and important guidance for secondary transfer. There are lots of workshops and events planned for this term so please pencil them into your diary and I look forward to meeting you again very soon.
Wishing you all a very happy and restful weekend.
Best Wishes,
Geraldine Hampton
Executive Headteacher

KS1
- Why did Jesus want to be alone with his disciples?
- What was his sad story about?
- What can we do today to be the ‘First’ with Jesus?
KS2
- What was the message that Jesus told him disciples?
- Why do you think he want to keep this message a secret?
- Why do you think his disciples were afraid to ask him what he meant?
- What did Jesus mean when he said, “To be first, you must make yourself last? How can we do this today?
School Ties
The children look lovely in their school uniform. Sadly, some children are not wearing their ties.
The St Charles school tie gives the school its unique identity and this is something we want to preserve and promote throughout the local area. Staff will be checking to ensure that all school uniform criteria is followed. Thank you for your support.

Attendance
This weeks attendance award goes to 4H with 98% attendance.
This weeks punctuality award goes to 3/4H with 7 minutes lost.
We are working towards achieving 96% attendance this academic year. Please help us to achieve this by ensuring that your child attends School each day and by not booking any holiday during term time. Please be aware that holiday leave in term time cannot be authorised. There is strong correlation between good attendance and good progress. So together, let’s give our children the best possible chance of reaching their potential.
Wraparound care
A reminder- From 23rd September, afterschool care for St Charles will be provided by Aktiva at a new hub based at Ark Brunel. The Aktiva provision at Ark Brunel will be available to children from Nursery to Year 6 and will run from 3.30pm to 6.00pm. The walking bus will continue to operate to take children from St Charles to Ark Brunel to attend this afterschool provision. Details of costs and how to book have been sent to all parents.
If you have any further questions, please speak to Sophie in the office.
After School Clubs
After school clubs will start on Monday 23rd September. There are still spaces available in some of the clubs. Please remember that children attending football club must wear their full St Charles PE kit- no other kits are permitted. Thank you.
National Read A Book Day
The children in 1D loved visiting our school library to celebrate ‘National Read a Book Day’!
Gardening
We are busy growing food in our vegetable garden. We have a bumper crop of delicious tomatoes and other vegetables. Yummy! And the lavender smells wonderful!
Wildlife Pond
We can't wait to visit our new wildlife pond and explore the plants and animals that are found there!
If you are interested in finding out more about the PFA, or would like to join, please speak to Sophie in the office.
