An end-of-the-year message from Mrs. Sahleen, Rocket Readers:

As I look back over my 25-year career in education, 19 of which have been in Colton, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve so many students and families while working side-by-side with many outstanding people. In the words of Educator Rita Pierson: "Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be." It has been an honor to be the champion for so many Colton students - thank you. With that, as I prepare for the fourth quarter of my life, I am excited to see what comes next. Therefore, effective at the end of this school year I will retire from my certified teaching position at Colton Elementary School.

Save the date! 5th grade parents, please be on the lookout for an invitation in the mail for June 10th. The PTA would like to invite you to have refreshments after the 9AM student body assembly.

Please remember to use caution while driving through the school parking lots and follow the posted speed limit to help ensure the safety of our students. Friendly reminder- middle school students are still in session in the afternoons, so please drive cautiously through their school. Thank you!

Photos (from April 25)!! PLEASE remind your children to check our lost and found for their missing items. These items will also be on display at the June 6th barbeque and STEM fair. If you are missing a jacket, sweatshirt or coat, feel free to email Mrs. Wagner and we will look for you wagnerc@colton.k12.or.us All unclaimed items will be donated to the local Clothes Closet after June 18.

If your child has daily or as needed medication held at the office, please make an appointment to pick it up by June 18. Any medications that have not been picked up by this date will be properly disposed of. Medications can not be held over the summer months and must be signed out by an adult. Thank you!

PTA is putting together a wall of celebration: a flower garden of our 5th grade handprints. Families, please decorate with any wishes, notes, photos or memories for your student and our school to enjoy. They will be on display the remainder of the year! The Garden began growing today, May 16th! If you haven't yet, return them by Monday, May 20th.

Colton Preschool Registration is ready now! Please register under the 24-25 school year using the link below if you plan on returning or have a sibling that needs to sign up (this includes part time, full time and Preschool Promise). All parents and volunteers, in order for you to work in or around our buildings, you must clear an ODE and CSD background check and complete mandatory training. If you have only completed one of the online training modules, please email hr@colton.k12.or.us to receive the full set. This is a new requirement. Friendly Reminder: All medication (over-the-counter and prescribed) needs to be transported to school by a parent, and medication authorization forms must be filled out before office staff can administer medication. The medication both prescribed and over the counter should be in the original packaging, and can only be given as directed by the prescribing physician or medication label.
