We are very excited to introduce to you a new way that we hope to streamline how we are celebrating our students and staff across the district. There are some incredible things that are going on in Somerville ISD! If you have suggestions on information that you would like to see in this newsletter, or if there are things that we can improve upon please let me know!

Congratulations to Barrett Howe and Hadley Howe for placing first with their Angus heifer and Maine-Anjou heifer at the Forth Worth Stock Show!

Congratulations to Abigail Flencher (Jr), Aleen Isom (Sr.), Jena Foster (Jr), and Savannah Eschete (So.) for representing Somerville ISD at the Regional Band Concert. These students had to audition against students from several schools in our region, and had to perform excerpts from two selections they learned along with their scales for a panel of judges.

The mission of the Somerville I.S.D. Education Foundation (SEF) is to raise and distribute funds to enhance the educational experience of all Somerville ISD students by providing scholarships and financial support through educational grants to supplement district-wide programs and activities. Happy March! Spring has sprung at Somerville Elementary/Intermediate with a lot of great events! Track meets, baseball, softball, community service and great learning will make up the month. Get out and support our athletes and support our seventh graders as they work towards their end of the year trip. March is all about support as we make our way to the end of the year!

Haylee Wade is our new 4th Grade ELAR Teacher. Sometimes it is hard for me to believe that Ms Wade found us. She is devoted to her students and comes up with fun ways for her students to showcase their love of reading and writing. As exhibited by the pictures below, students in Ms. Wade's class truly are blessed with fun, engaging lesson ideas. This month's spotlight is devoted to Ms. Wade and the love she gives to her students and her passion for teaching.

Wednesday, January 27th we had Blinn College representatives visit with our Seniors and Juniors. We would like to thank Mrs. Benavides-Prospective Student Recruiter, Anthony Garcia-Perkins Coordinator, John Mark Palmer-Financial Aid. It was such a great presentation Blinn College presented to our students and took the time to help our students with any questions they had with college applications, scholarships and financial assistance.
