Friday Message

Hello PUE Families,

Welcome to our first Friday newsletter of the 2024-2025 school year! I will send this out every Friday at 4:30pm via email and text message. If a parent is not receiving this, please have them reach out to the main office.

A few carpool reminders as we begin the year. Please be patient next week as all of our new Kindergarten students will be starting on Monday, 7/15. This will make afternoon carpool take a little bit more time as the students get used to the process. Please make sure that anyone who is picking up your child has the official carpool tag. This allows us to ensure that students are being picked up by authorized people. If you have not gotten your new carpool tags yet, please stop by the front office. Track 4 families will get theirs during the first day of school in the carpool line.

For bus riders, please make sure that you have signed up for two important update systems. First, make sure you have the Here Comes the Bus app. This gives live GPS updates on where your child's bus is, and notifies parents when the bus is replaced with a sub. The second app is the Remind App. The class code to join our group is @7ak6kgh. This allows our front office staff to notify parents as soon as possible when a bus has been cancelled for the day or has been extremely delayed.

Volunteer registration is now open for the 24-25 school year. You must complete this process every school year. I highly recommend that all parents complete this registration ASAP before traditional schools come back due to the time it takes to complete. Once you have completed it, no news is good news. We are looking forward to another great year here at PUE! Our staff is here to help, so don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions. We truly believe it takes a village to raise a child, so we are all in this together to ensure we make every child a success story!

KidzArt Returns

KidzArt will be offering after school drawing lessons for 24/25 school year. Session 1 begins on Aug 8 (Track 3 students start on Aug 22). Classes meet on Thursdays at 4-5 pm in the Art Room for K-5th grades students. Every week is a new project and returning students are welcome! Carpool Lane Reminders

As a reminder, during morning carpool, do not cut through the parking lot. We have many staff, as well as students walking through the parking lot at various times and do not want an accident to happen.

Also, carpool lane remains 2 lanes until you get close to the carpool circle. This helps us prevent the carpool line from stretching onto the road for too long.

Front Office Reminder

Please remember that per WCPSS policy, any visitor to a school must sign-in at the front office with a photo ID. Please make sure to have a government-issued ID when planning on visiting the school.

Volunteer Registration Open

Volunteer registration is open for the 2024-2025 school year. All volunteers must apply through the new volunteer management system for 2023-24, regardless of any previous volunteer status. Registration can be done on or off school campuses through any mobile device or computer. Individuals will be notified by the MyVolunteer system if they are approved to volunteer.

School Meal Accounts

Parents can place money directly onto their child's school meal account through http://www.myschoolbucks.com/. Parents can also place limits on student spending and extra items that students can purchase.

Buses

Bus information can be found here. If you have not already downloaded it, get the Here Comes the Bus App for live GPS tracking. Also, if you plan on using the bus, please join our Remind group for PUE Buses. You will need the code- @7ak6kgh to join. We will use that to communicate when routes are cancelled. Please note that PUE has no control of bus routes or the HCTB app. Please communicate your concerns over bus delays, route cancellations, or GPS tracking directly to the transportation department at 919-805-3030.

The 2024-2025 school year is off to a great start! The PTA is working on exciting spirit events, student enrichment, teacher appreciation, family fun, and more! Please consider becoming a member of the PTA to support our school, you can renew or join here. Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids- Fundraiser

Update your hairdo and support PUE! Now through August 31, when a child or adult gets a haircut at Sharkey’s North Raleigh location (8835 Six Forks Rd.), Sharkey’s will give a $2 token for the PUE donation bin. Help support our school simply by getting a haircut!

Spirit Rock

Rent the PUE Spirit Rock- share birthday messages, congratulations, and celebrations in a fun way while supporting passive fundraising for our school. Rental is $35 for one week. Please make sure you follow the instructions carefully.
