1st Marking Period Update

As we are closing in on the end of the first marking period, all our students are beginning to assimilate back into our normal school routines. It has certainly been a challenge for many students to get used to being back in school full-time. To that end, we ask for your continued partnership in reinforcing with your children many of our basic school rules that will help facilitate the transition back to full-day instruction. Please be mindful of absenteeism. Just one week of lost instruction can create a learning gap causing a student to struggle unnecessarily and can also lead to a loss of credit for a class. We need all of our students in the building every day. Additionally, please reinforce to your student the importance of being on time to school and just as importantly, being on time to each class period during the school day. Finally, as always, hats and hoods are not permitted to be worn in the school building.

We will continue our deferral of quarterly (marking period) exams from last year as we transition our students back to full-day instruction. We will be utilizing an assessment schedule next Tuesday through Friday that will allow for our teachers to be able to issue a final chapter test or unit assessment that counts as part of the marking period grade, not in a separate quarterly category. The schedule allows for two longer morning blocks and does not affect our normal school day hours.
