We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Wishing you all a blessed Feast of All Saints! Our 5th grade students did a wonderful job representing so many incredible saints through the years at our school Mass yesterday afternoon. Thank you to Ms. Szorosy and all of the students for their hard work!
On All Saints Day in November of 2000, Pope John Paul II, later to be canonized himself, shared the following remarks:
"The saints took the words of Jesus in his Beatitudes seriously. They believed that they would find happiness by putting them into practice in their lives. And they realized their truth in everyday experience: despite their trials, moments of darkness and failures, they already experienced in part here the deep joy of communion with Christ. In him they discovered the future glory of God's kingdom."
As we honor and remember all the saints who have come before us, lighting a path of faith, hope, and love, may we be inspired by their lives to act with compassion, courage, and kindness in our daily lives.
At this time, I am pleased to share that Mr. Ed Correia will be joining the FJVD community as our physical education teacher. Mr. Correia is familiar to many in the FJVD community as he has served for several years as our CAL Basketball Coach, as well as running our current Little Saints Instructional Basketball Program for students in Grades 1-3. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Correia!
Lastly, as noted last week, I would highly encourage all families to complete the survey, which can be found here. Please know that responses are anonymous, and each response is carefully considered. Over the past several years, survey responses have prompted meaningful change in a range of areas including extended day programming, extracurriculars, curricular supplies, and more. Thank you for your thoughtful feedback!

Annual Veterans Day Prayer Service - Nov. 7th 6:30
Each year, our eighth grade students lead a special Veterans Day prayer service to recognize family members of the FJVD school community who are veterans or currently serving in the armed forces.
As part of the service, members of our eighth grade class have invited a family member who is a veteran to be recognized in a special way and share some personal reflections.
In addition, Father John V . Doyle School annually honors veterans with ties to our school community including alumni, family, and friends of the school. This year we will once again be creating a veterans’ memorial in the area in front of the school gym. The memorial will consist of a flag representing each veteran along with the names of all veterans connected to our school community.
See the attachment below to participate in our Veterans Day Memorial.
Art Club with Mrs. O'Brien - Multiple Grade Levels!
Mrs. O’Brien, FJVD parent and substitute teacher, will be running two after school Art Clubs - one for our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students and one for our 1st and 2nd grade students. The cost for the club is $60 per student. We're also excited to share that one of our middle schoolers - Ms. Veronica - will be assisting with the art camp for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students!
Students participating in the club will strengthen cutting, tracing and gluing skills, while also enhancing their ability to follow multiple step instructions with attention to detail. Projects will include salt dough ornaments, watercolor paintings, and more. Student should bring a small, easy to eat snack for after school.

Turkey Day Camp - Coming this November!
Parents, on the day before Thanksgiving are you working? Cooking? Cleaning? Maybe you just want to get the house ready for guests?
Let us help! Children in Pre-K and Kindergarten can enjoy a day of everything turkey at our Turkey Day Camp on Wednesday, November 27th from 8:00am-3:30pm. The day will feature story time, a craft, outdoor play, songs, games and learning stations that are all related to the themes of Thanksgiving and turkeys.
Children will need to bring a snack, lunch, and a refillable water bottle.
The cost for the day is $75. Please note, there will not be a nurse in the building during Turkey Day Camp.
As always, be assured of my prayers for you and your families.
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin
