Pointer Press
October 7th, 2024 Vol 6
Welcome Sparrows Point Middle School families to the weekly Pointer Press!
Message from Mr. Eiswert
Good morning, Sparrows Point. I hope everyone had a great weekend! The weather finally came together to give us a few nice days. I had an opportunity to attend my first SPHS homecoming this weekend. What a great time to get together as a community. Way to go Point Friday night!
Our counselors have begun getting into our 7th grade classrooms to provide advice and guidance regarding student's high school plans and the magnet school application process. While every school year is important, 7th grade is looked upon closely by magnet schools throughout BCPS. As always, please continue encouraging your child to attend school daily, do their best in class, and participate in after school activities. Students were also reminded that they need 70 Service-Learning Hours to graduate high school. It鈥檚 never too late to get a jump on those hours and service the school community.
Congratulations to our September Students of the Month. Every teacher selected a student who demonstrated excellence (academic and behavioral) in their class over the last month. Each student was celebrated in a ceremony on Friday and received a certificate, Pointer Pin, and a coupon for a free ice cream at lunch. We will be doing this each month throughout the school year.
Congratulations to Ms. Ciscel on receiving the September Teacher of the Month award. Although she is a first-year teacher, Ms. Ciscel really engages and challenges her students. SPMS is lucky to have her.
Starting on Monday afternoon, we will be slightly changing our dismissal procedures. Walkers and car riders will be dismissed from class at 2:50PM to give them time to leave campus. Bus riders will then be dismissed at 3:00PM. If you are picking up your child, please do so on time at the normal pick-up area.
Have a great week!
Eric
