Dear RTMS Families,
We are looking forward to a New Year, and a successful 2023. There is still quite a bit of time left in Trimester 2; please look at PowerSchool with your student, and ask them how they are doing in their classes. What goals can they set to end this trimester on a positive note? If their grades are looking well, what clubs could they join? How can they become more involved in their school community? Please take a look at our weekly calendar, and encourage your child to try something new. Having extracurricular interests outside of schoolwork can help students broaden their horizons, and make new friends. If you follow RTMS on Twitter or Facebook, you will see a graphic shared of the Week at a Glance each week for ideas.
While our staff will be growing and learning together tomorrow during our institute day, we will also be looking forward to seeing everybody in our hallways on Tuesday! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns as we start 2023.
In partnership,
Mary Krall-Meske
Principal
Yearbooks
The deadline for ordering yearbooks is
Monday, February 13th.
1) Go to inter-state.com and enter the code 72523B.
-or-
2) Return the completed order envelope (students received this in October) with $25.00 cash or a check payable to River Trails Middle School. We have additional order forms in the office, if needed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
8th grade parents/guardians:
It has been an 8th grade tradition at RTMS for family members to share a short personal message, including a picture of their 8th grader (typically a baby/toddler photo, or from kindergarten, age 5 or 6) that will appear in the yearbook. The message typically offers an inspirational or congratulatory tone.
Messages and photos can easily be submitted electronically by using this link (you will need to be logged into a Gmail account). If you do not have a Gmail account, your message and photo can be emailed to sletzig@rtsd26.org.
The due date for submitting a message/photo for your 8th grader is January 13th, 2023. The publishing company has set a hard deadline and we will not be able to accept photos or messages after this date!
Again, the due date for ordering a yearbook itself is Monday, February 13th. As noted above, to order your yearbook, follow this link and input the school code: 72523B. There will be a very limited number of books to buy after this date.
8th Grade End of Year Activities
There was one mistake in the end of year information document, so please note that the 8th grade dinner/dance will be on Tuesday, May 23rd.
Please reach out to our front office with any questions or concerns.
Drop Off/Pick Up
Please give yourself time to allow your student to get into the building on time each morning. As we all see, the line coming into the parking lot backs up the closer it gets to start time. Students are marked tardy if they are not in their first block class when the first block bell rings (7:40 on a regular day, 8:30 on late start Thursdays). Many parents have found more success (and less frustration!) when dropping off their child in the church parking lot next door, or on neighboring streets with enough time to carefully walk over to the building.
Feedback
As many of you know, our block schedule was brand new this year. Please keep an eye on your email in January for a parent/guardian survey so that we can analyze the strengths of this new schedule, as well as opportunities to improve. We will also be asking for feedback from our students and staff members.
