Holy Cross Catholic School

You might hear from your child that we evacuated the building today. We smelled natural gas and called the Overland Park Fired Department. They advised us to evacuate until they could investigate the building. There was a spill of mercaptan. Mercaptan is the odorant added to natural gas to make it smell. While mercaptan smells unpleasant, the message from Johnson County stated it should not present any danger. The OPFD determined our building was safe and we returned to our classrooms. The gas company came to double check the building. While they did find a small leak, they stated we were safe to remain in the building while they made the repairs.
We feel so blessed for a positive outcome today and are so excited to celebrate tomorrow, Saturday, December 2nd at 8:30am for our annual Breakfast with Santa event. This is the last day to shop at our Elf Shelf Store. A big thank you to our staff, parent volunteers and Mrs. Bridges for making this event such a success.
This Sunday marks the beginning of the Advent season. We are looking forward to a season of hope, peace, joy and love with our Holy Cross Community!
Red Bag is one of our favorite Holy Cross traditions.
Thank you everyone for helping our Red Bag families have a wonderful Christmas. A special thank you to Mrs. Watson for organizing and Mrs. Kerth for helping deliver with Mrs. Watson! Such an amazing community!
