Cal Kids
CalKIDS is a new program from the State of California that provides eligible families with free money for college. CalKIDS was created to help families kickstart their college savings plan and increase access to higher education.
In May 2024, GMS had 284 students eligible for CalKids. Out of the 284 students, only 10% had claimed their accounts. A goal is to increase the number of students/parents who claim these accounts so it can start earning interest.
- As of September 10, 2024, GMS had 296 students eligible with a 16.55% registration rate.
- As of November 14, 2024 GMS had a registration rate of 20.95%.
- As of today, GMS has a registration rate of 28.98%
Out of six middle schools, GMS is leading in registration rates and is making good progress on getting students accounts registered. We still have about 200 students who have not registered their accounts yet. The sooner an account is registered, the sooner it can start accruing interest. Please check your email for information on how to register your student's account if eligible.
