Tiger Academy Intent to Re-Enroll
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It may be hard to believe, but we are already starting to plan for the 2024-2025 school year! First up on the to-do list is to know how many students are returning next year. Please use the link below to let us know if you plan to have your scholars return to Tiger Academy for the 2024-2025 school year. This will help us know how many spots we can open up to new scholars.
Please complete one form per student. You do not need to complete the form for current 5th grade scholars.
Note: Any students with account balances are automatically marked as not returning. Once the balance is paid in full, scholars will be marked as returning, as long as there are spots available. If spots have been filled, you will need to re-apply and be placed on the waiting list. Please contact the front office if you have any questions.
Free Books! Apply Now!
Exciting news: this year, Florida’s free home literacy program, New Worlds Reading, will send enrolled families 3 free bonus books!
Families who apply for an eligible child at newworldsreading.com by Monday, June 10th, will receive all 12 books and resources for the 2023-2024 school year. Our goal is to get 300,000 eligible students enrolled for this school year, and we need educators’ help! Share New Worlds Reading with eligible families with pre-made emails, talking points, social media posts, and more using our toolkits here.
For those unfamiliar with the program, New Worlds Reading mails enrolled students 9 books and reading activities each school year through fifth grade in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, or braille. That’s up to 63 free books and activities by the end of 5th grade if a student enrolls while in VPK! Plus, eligible kids remain in the program through fifth grade, even if their reading scores improve.
Kids can choose which books they’ll receive each year based on what interests them, getting a special package addressed just to them in the mail to spark their excitement. To grow kids’ skills, newworldsreading.com offers free activities, interactive reading guides, and videos that reinforce science of reading strategies as a resource for families to use with striving readers at home.
To be eligible, a child must be in a Florida VPK program and not yet meeting age-appropriate standards according to FAST Star Early Literacy OR in kindergarten through 5th grade and not yet reading on grade level in a public or charter school.
If you have any questions, please contact new.worlds@coe.ufl.edu.
Families can apply at newworldsreading.com.

Box Tops are Back at Tiger!
Dear TIGER ACADEMY families,
I am the Box Tops for Education Coordinator for our school, and I am reaching out to show you how Box Tops can help give our students what they need to succeed.
It's easy! Here's how it works:
· Buy Box Tops products. With hundreds of participating products, there are lots of chances to earn!
· Scan your receipt with the Box Tops app within 14 days of purchase and automatically earn for TIGER ACADEMY with every Box Tops product you buy.
· If you shop online, you can earn with your digital or email receipt, too. See how to submit those receipts here.
Our goal is to earn $500.00 through Box Tops this year. We are currently 2% of the way there!
Remember, you can earn a bonus for our school by referring your friends, family and other parents at TIGER ACADEMY to sign up for Box Tops. You'll both earn a bonus when they scan their first receipt with the Box Tops app.
Every Box Tops product counts towards our goal. Let's make a difference together. We can do this!
Sincerely,
Jacqueline S.

Short on time? Here is one excerpt with a statistic that stands out:
"Other work suggests that when children get outside, it leaves a lasting impression. In a study of residents of Denmark, researchers used satellite data to assess people’s exposure to green space from birth to age 10, which they compared with longitudinal data on individual mental health outcomes. The researchers examined data from more than 900,000 residents born between 1985 and 2003. They found that children who lived in neighborhoods with more green space had a reduced risk of many psychiatric disorders later in life, including depression, mood disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and substance use disorder. For those with the lowest levels of green space exposure during childhood, the risk of developing mental illness was 55% higher than for those who grew up with abundant green space (Engemann, K., et al., PNAS, Vol. 116, No. 11, 2019)."

School Fees Reminder Letter to Parents
Greetings Parents/Guardians,
The success of Tiger Academy hinges upon the commitment of families to make education and involvement a priority. Our school strives to support families in areas of need, to include child care on our campus. Tiger Academy relies upon timely payments to continue to provide educational programs and services at a nominal fee.
Tiger Academy understands that unexpected situations can and do arise and the school strives to work with families. If unforeseen financial circumstances arise, families are responsible for contacting the school manager and/or principal, as soon as possible, to review the financial hardship and seek a mutually agreeable payment plan. When payments are not made in accordance with tuition agreements, payment arrangements, and daily operational expectations, the resulting delinquent balances negatively impact the student’s participation and enrollment status.
Please review the following policies regarding delinquent Tiger Academy balances on your YMCA account:
- · Parents/Guardians are not permitted to attend field trips or participate in activities with a chaperone/volunteer fees associated
- · Students may not attend a field trip or participate in activities with student fees associated
- · Students are not eligible for re-enrollment for the next school year
As a reminder, there are several upcoming end of year activities and field trips. If the activity or field trip requires payment, your delinquent balance must be paid prior to participation. Additionally, our school re-enrollment and lottery enrollment process is scheduled to take place in April 2024. Student accounts must be in good standing and remain so through the end of the summer to be eligible for re-enrollment and maintain their seat with Tiger Academy.
Every Tiger Academy family has an associated YMCA account used for PE uniform purchases, child care fees, event and field trip payments, late pick up fees, etc. Tiger Academy encourages all parents and/or guardians to maintain awareness of account standing by logging into your YMCA account weekly, at fcymca.org (for first time access select My Account – Forgot Password). Please also check emails frequently for delinquent balance notifications.
Our mission at Tiger Academy is to provide children with a structured and nurturing learning environment that is focused on rigorous academic standards, character development, self-discipline, personal and social responsibility and family involvement. By working together, we can accomplish this goal.
