Using our assertive voice and taking accountability
As educators, parents, and caregivers, our mission is to create a safe environment for our students and children, while they too play a vital role in maintaining that safety. It's common for kids to resort to physical or verbal hurt when they feel upset, often justifying their actions with phrases like, “Well, he/she did it first,” or “My mom/dad says I should hit back.” However, the key to preventing aggressive behavior lies in fostering a strong sense of belonging and community in both classrooms and homes.
When unity is present, children feel emotionally secure enough to express themselves and communicate their boundaries to those who might be aggressive. This skill of standing up for themselves is one we want to instill in our students for life. Encouraging them to take a deep breath and relax can help them stay calm and express their feelings clearly and assertively. Remind them to use kind words to resolve conflicts and to reach out to teachers if they need help with this.
To help our children take responsibility for their thoughts, feelings, and actions, we must model this behavior as adults. If you catch yourself saying that someone made you angry, remember that you have control over your feelings. It's your responsibility to decide how to respond. Let's work together to guide our children in developing these important skills!

Birthday Treats
Birthday treats are encouraged to be purchased from our school cafeteria. No outside food and/or treats are allowed for birthday student and/or classmates.
When it comes to birthday treats for students, our cafeteria managers need at least 2 weeks’ notice to ensure they have enough time to order the treats that you want for your student. This also gives time to the nurses to check the allergies of all the students in the class. If you have more questions about the process, please reach out to the campus kitchen for more information.
For more information, please visit our Nutrition and Food services by clicking here.
We also have more options for Birthday surprises. Please see our flyer below and be sure to fill out the form with your information AND pay using this LINK.
