Dear Seward Families,
As we step into October, there is plenty of excitement in the air at school! Here are some key updates and events:
Borough Competitions
This week, we wrap up our fall sports season with Soccer and Cross Country Boroughs. Our athletes have been working incredibly hard, and we are so proud of their dedication and teamwork! Let’s cheer them on as they finish their seasons strong.
Basketball Season Begins Soon!
We are excited to announce that Basketball season kicks off on October 7th! If your student is interested in joining the team, please be sure to notify the office as soon as possible. We’re looking forward to another fantastic season of skill-building and sportsmanship.
Parent Volunteers Welcome!
We are thrilled to see more parents signing up to volunteer at school! Your involvement brings so much joy to the students, and the staff deeply appreciates the extra support. If you’re interested in helping out this year, stop by the office to learn more about the simple process to get started. Whether it’s in the classroom or during events, there are many ways to contribute.
Fall MAP Assessment Completed
We have officially completed the Fall MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessment, and we are eager to see how our students will grow as learners this year. MAP is an adaptive test that tailors itself to each student’s learning level. The assessment consists of 40 questions that increase in difficulty as students answer correctly, providing teachers with valuable insight into what each student has learned and what they are ready to tackle next.
We look forward to reviewing the results in preparation for the Winter MAP assessment later in the school year and tracking our progress.
Thank you for your continued support of Seward Middle School. Together, we are building a strong, supportive learning community!
Warm regards,
Scott Lefebvre
Principal, Seward Middle School
📢Important Bus Information
Attention Parents/Guardians:
If your child will be riding a different bus after school, please notify us before noon by calling or sending a note with your child. No bus passes will be issued after lunch unless it is an emergency.
For any questions about bussing, please contact First Student Bus at 224-3559.
📢School Start Time
As we settle back into the school year, we want to emphasize the importance of arriving on time. Please plan to have your student at school by 7:40 AM. We’ve noticed a significant increase in tardiness, and when students arrive late, they miss valuable morning instruction and can disrupt their classmates.
Our front doors will be closed and locked at 7:45 AM, so please ensure your child is here on time. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us create a focused learning environment for all students!
October Lunch Menu
Parents or guardians must reapply each year for free or reduced meal benefits. All applications will be accepted online through the new state portal at mealapp.kpbsd.org.
