Welcome To Week #28
Diamond Bar High School and the Walnut Valley Unified School District are proud to recognize Women's History Month as we continue to provide our organization with resources to celebrate diversity while building equitable and inclusive practices for our community.
Dear Brahma Family,
Women’s History Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the countless contributions women have made throughout history. Across the curriculum, students have the opportunity to explore the impact of women in shaping our world—not just in March, but all year.
In science and math, students learn about pioneers like Marie Curie, Rachel Carson, Katherine Johnson, and Rosalind Franklin, whose discoveries changed the course of history. In English, they read authors like Toni Morrison, Margaret Atwood, Harper Lee, Maya Angelou, Celeste Ng, and Jane Austen who have used their words to inspire, challenge, and spark change. In history and social science, students explore the fight for women’s suffrage, civil rights, and global activism and the role played by women like Harriet Tubman, Eleanor Roosevelt, Michelle Obama, and Malala Yousafzai. In PE and our athletic programs, we recognize that athletes like Billie Jean King, Simone Biles, Serena Williams, and our own Alex Morgan have broken barriers and redefined what’s possible. By having these conversations throughout the curriculum, our teachers help students connect past struggles with present-day issues, and reinforce the importance of inclusivity and equal opportunities.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
David Hong
Principal
