Another exciting year at the HOSA State Leadership Conference in Traverse City. Congratulations to James Lee who placed 2nd in Dental Terminology and Matilda Evardsson who placed 1st in Research Poster. Way to go WB HOSA! HOSA is a student group of future health professionals.

Learning In & Out of the Classrooms
Mrs. Cooleys 7th Grade Advisory class participated in a design & thinking modeling class at Oakland Schools. Their task was to create a low cost fundraiser, their solution was a drive thru carnival.
Learning outside the classroom on the 8th Grade Field Trip to Washington, D.C.
WBMS was fortunate to bring a group of 50 female students to the Girls Get IT Conference sponsored by The Michigan Council of Women in Technology. The girls were introduced to local technology leaders and able to learn ways technology is shaping our future.

Laker Opportunity Center is our New Alternative High School Program
Laker Opportunity Center offers an alternative learning experience for those that have struggled in the traditional learning environment and need credit recovery. Laker Opportunity Center offers students the opportunity to complete high school and graduate with a diploma. Our school leaders help select the right learning mode for each student. The program is open to all students in the State of Michigan who are 16-22 years old. Learn more on their facebook page or https://www.wbsd.org/lakeroppcenter.
In-Person Cohorts
Students may join an in-person cohort, meeting 2-3 times weekly. Monday & Thursday OR Tuesday & Friday are available, with a Wednesday rotation.
Drop-In
Qualifying students completing coursework from home may qualify for opt-in meet-ups only.
All Online
Qualifying students can learn entirely from home 24/7, communicating with school staff via email and video only. All students must make weekly contact with staff.

Saturday, April 27, Michigan High School Esports League held a ceremony for the inaugural state awards program during their in-person Spring Semi-Finals & Championship event. During the ceremony more than 60 individuals were recognized for receiving All-State, Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards.

Free Comic Book Day
Saturday, May 4 from 10am – 1pm

Celebrate Free Comic Book Day at the Library! Grab a comic and make some comic themed crafts. While crafting, enjoy The Incredibles on the library’s big screen starting at 11am. There will be a limit of one comic per person, and they will be available while supplies last. For ages 5 years and up, No Registration Required
Drop-In Saturday Gaming
Saturday, May 4 from 2-4pm
Main Library Meeting Room
“May the force be with you,” as you join us at the library this Star Wars Day for gaming. The library will have a few (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation5, Xbox 1) systems for kids to share and play with other gaming participants. For grades 3-8.
