We are having a Veterans Day Assembly on November 10th. During the assembly we would like to have a slide show of veterans connected to Collins. Please send in pictures with their name, branch of service, and the student(s) they are connected to by November 8, 2022. All of our Collins Family Veterans are welcome to join us on 11/10/22 at 2:10 to 2:40 in the gym.

These students were recognized at a recent assembly for their character trait of empathy: Norah Trethaway, Jasmine Miller, Oliver Liese, Kailana Dinh, Evelyn Brassey, Carlito Alvarez, Dylan Massey, Ethan Bun, Antonio Magallon, Roxanne Arellano, Evan Khamnouane, Lia Torres, Lucas Pearce, Michael Harvester, Sophia Rivers, Johnny Fox, Rosie Staab, Andrew Hawks, Ellie Pearson, Daniel Obitotskyi, Jasreen Kaur, Luca Beardsley, Aubree Grant, Daniel Duran, Jade Farrell, Sedinam Deyegbe, Skyelar Bainbridge, , Emma Gad, Melody Vong, Arianna Diggs, Elnathan Williams, Alonso Trujillo Alvarez, Dorian Lolesio Mataia, Maila Naki, Layan Badeea, Jonathan Panjoj Jimon, Raelynn Lusk, Esekiel Nuku, Chase D'Amico, Viena Unga, Carter Kimble, Katelyn Rodriguez, Ryder Hall, Gabriel Smith, Isaiah Chiengyan, Ruby Bonnett,. Kailana Dinh and Jade Farrell also had their Bee Slips drawn and won t-shirts!

Our most recent celebration was "French Fries and Fun"! We had 10 names in-a-row of students that were given "Pick-of-the-Pack" awards! The winners were: Gio Fresnares, Maverick Rauschenberg, Joslyn Friese, Erick Hernandez, Santino Harvey, Luca Beardsley, Skyelar Bainbridge, Abbigail Sweetman, Noah Gannuscio and Ryder Wells. Congratulations!

Our picture retake day will be on Friday, November 18th. ANY student wishing to have their photo retaken needs to return their original photo package to the photographer on retake day. (There is no charge for retakes) Keep the ID card if you received one. Students absent on the original picture day should be photographed on retake day for school records. *We will only be photographing students who missed the original phot day or students with pre-paid orders.

We are finally heading into the colder, wetter months of the school year. We will have outdoor recess as much as possible as long as conditions are safe for students to be outside. Please be sure your students come to school dressed for the weather. Wear coats, hats, gloves, socks, shoes that protect their feet. If your child is in need of a rain jacket or rain boots, please let Ms. Bobbi know.

Franklin Pierce Schools has partnered with the YMCA of Pierce County to offer before and afterschool care for several years. Due to limited capacity, the YMCA is no longer able to offer childcare to support families at Collins Elementary. Right at Schools launched a new before and afterschool program at Collins Elementary. WA PREP for Healthy Youth knows that strong parent/caregiver engagement is a key component of young people’s health, safety, and well-being. This is true in every area of their lives, including Comprehensive Sexual Health Education (CSHE) implementation. WA PREP is recruiting parents/caregivers and young people to review eLearning micro-modules. All pilot participants will be paid for their time. These modules will focus on engaging, age-appropriate content and supports to guide conversations with young people around CSHE-related topics.

This work will take place virtually in mid-September. If you are interested in this opportunity or have questions about the process, please email WA PREP director Christine Hagstrom, at chagstrom@cardeaservices.org.

SCHEDULE CHANGES - The end of the day at Collins is very hectic. If you forgot to send a note in the morning (which is preferred) and need to call the school with a change to your child’s schedule, please do so before 3:30 p.m. After 3:30 the office is busy assisting students and parents and will not be able to answer your call or get a message to a student before they leave for the day. All end of the day schedule changes must be made through the office, not with the classroom teacher. Thank you!

EARLY PARENT PICK-UP If you need to pick your student up early, we ask that students be picked up no later than 3:45 due to our end of the day congestion. To preserve precious class time, we do not call students to the office until you have checked them out in person (remember your ID).

UPDATE CONTACT INFORMATION - If any of your information has changed (address, contact info., email address, etc.) please contact the office right away. This year more than ever, it will be important to have the most current information. Also, let us know what your preferred method of contact is - phone, email, text.
