Chandler AVID Newsletter
July 2024
Welcome back, AVID family!
Hello Chandler AVID Community!
My name is Heather Dyke and I have the honor of serving as the AVID Site Coordinator at Chandler High School. One of my goals in this position is to increase awareness about the amazing learning activities and opportunities that are happening in AVID.
We have a very strong and supportive group of teachers, counselors, and administrators on our campus that believe in the mission of AVID and understand that we can use the research based, proven strategies to help our students have the supports and opportunities they need to not only reach the next level after high school, but to succeed and thrive.
If one of our AVID students has an achievement that you would like me to feature in a future newsletter, please send me an e-mail. I would love to hear about it!
Thank you for your continued support of our Chandler High School AVID program. I look forward to sharing with you some of the great things happening in our AVID classrooms and with our AVID students throughout this school year.
Sincerely,
Heather Dyke
AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.

Please consider giving your tax credit donation to AVID!!
All tax credit donations received for AVID will go directly to help cover the cost of our college visit field trips. Each AVID level will have the opportunity to visit a college campus and get a campus tour. We have to collect tax credit donations or raise funds to cover the entire transportation costs for all of these trips.

Seeking Donations for our AVID Classroom
Dear AVID families,
I could really use your help by donating any of the following items:
- TISSUE BOXES ( I currently have NONE)
- Lysol Wipes
- Gift cards to a grocery store or Bosa Donuts - Each quarter, I provide donuts to the class that earned the highest class average GPA. I would use the grocery store gift cards to buy the materials for our end of the quarter "Campfire Circle" tradition. I like to provide the materials to make S'mores during this activity.
Thank you, in advance, for any donations you are able to provide for our classroom!!!
Chandler HS Open House
CHS will be hosting its annual open house for our community on the evening of Thursday, August 1st.
We encourage parents and guardians to attend Open House, walk their student's schedule, and see everything that The School of Champions has to offer.
Because I would LOVE to meet all my AVID parents, I am offering 20 extra credit points to my students that have a parent sign-in at Open House. See you there!!
