First Grade Newsletter

Our First graders are making the most of their Snow Day with exciting Choice Board activities! They're working asynchronously on a variety of fun tasks, including:

• Making a list of winter words with two syllables
• Helping out with a household chore for social-emotional learning
• Making snow cream by following a recipe
• Conducting a science experiment to see how long it takes to melt one cup of snow
• Practicing addition facts with flash cards

Our first graders in Mrs. Teague's class have been exploring the concept of measuring lengths using non-standard units. They learned what non-standard units are and how to use them for measuring. As part of this festive lesson, the students measured their own heights and created candy canes that matched their height. What a fun and educational activity that fits perfectly with the holiday season! It's so much fun learning in first grade!
