Meal Order

Dear Families,
This week has flown by with final rehearsals for Taiko and then a wonderfully coordinated performance on Wednesday. A huge thank you to Stuart Paton for his deliberate and thought provoking lessons that he shared with intention about the Japanese language and culture as well as teaching the art of Taiko (the word for drumming in Japanese we learned.)
The snow day on Thursday shortened our week. If you did not receive a message from ASCD via phone or text about the school closure and you would like to please reach out to Samantha. The plentiful snow on the playground made for extra fun and joy outside with fort building, snow castle decorating, and snow jumping. Many students were seen with huge smiles as they enjoyed the outdoor space at Weybridge School.
Valentines Day - Each student and staff member has drawn the name of someone in the school to make a Surprise Valentine for. This has been a beloved tradition for many years, bringing us closer together and adding beauty and intrigue to the front hall bulletin board. The cards are handmade with care. Children will have time in art class and open art these next two weeks to make their Valentine or they can make them at home. They should not include candy or other purchased gifts/trinkets. The sooner they are done the longer we have to admire them before we exchange them on February 14
In addition to the exchange of Surprise Valentines on the 14th, each class will have cookies and strawberry milk at some point during the day. We ask that children not bring in cards, other than the one they make for their Surprise Valentine, and there is no need for extra treats to come in. We’ve got it covered!
Christina and Norman have made it home after a long journey back over multiple days. Again, thanks for all your well wishes and offers of help.
Lunch volunteers: We need sign-ups next week for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If you can volunteer for one of these days, please email Christina at cjohnston@acsdvt.org or sign up directly on the calendar. If you can sign-up for the weeks ahead it would be very helpful.
Warmly, Samantha

Thank you!
A great big thank you to all the folks who sent in icing containers-- Every child in the 2-3 class now has a working water bottle holder on their desks. It's a little thing that makes a big difference!

School Board Appreciation Month!
We want to thank our thirteen ACSD School Board members for the time, collaboration, and deep investment they make to ensure a brighter future for our students, our district, and our community. We want to send a special appreciation to Chip Malcom and Joanna Doria who are leaving the Board this year. Chip has served on the ACSD board since unification in 2016 and previously served on the UD3 Board from 1985-2000, including 6 years as chair. Joanna has served on the ACSD Board since 2022. School board members are elected officials who live in one of our district towns and represent all members of the ACSD community. School board elections are held each Town Meeting day with a rotating number of our thirteen seats up each year. Learn more about the board: www.acsdvt.org/school-board/
