AP TESTING
What if my AP class isn't until the spring semester? When do I register/pay?
THIS IS FOR SECOND SEMESTER CLASSES ONLY----For AP students in Spring ONLY semester classes, please make sure to sign into your myap.collegeboard.org account and enroll in your Spring AP class sections or exam only sections (you will be able to join after your first day of class in January). Your teacher will give you the join code, so be sure to check with them if needed. For student's that do NOT already have a College Board account, you will need to go to College Board to create one. Please make sure you only have ONE account, and you must use your legal name when you register. After you have enrolled you will then register and pay for your Spring AP exam on the school webstore (this will open on Friday, January 7th). Make sure you SELECT the SPRING Class at https://twhs.conroeisd.net/school/our-campus/school-webstore/. The deadline is February 27, 2022. Be sure to select the 2nd semester box on payment.
NOTE: IF you paid for any spring only exams in the fall then all you need to do now is join the myapclassroom with code provided by Spring ONLY AP teacher in January.
The deadline to pay and register for AP exams for yearlong and Fall classes was 10/31. Any student needing to register and pay will need to see Mrs. Spears in grade level. Students will need a join code since they are late. There is also a $40 late fee for each exam. Students in Spring ONLY courses will enroll and pay (if they haven't already paid) in January and will have until 2/27/22 to make that enrollment and payment.
FINAL deadline for all AP exam ordering/payment is 2/27/22---NO payment or exam orders will be allowed after this date. No exceptions.
"All Things AP Testing Newsletter"---you will find everything you need to know about AP testing---this will be updated throughout the year. This link will also be posted on the TWHS freshman/senior campus school websites.

- Sophmore Veronika Exposito won the individual title with a 1 under par total of 143.
- Freshmen Charlotte Stick and Tate Hutcheson tied or 3rd place individual with totals of 150.
- Juniors Sofia Bastidas and Leena Stephens also aided in the teams victory
- The Green team placed 4th in the tournament. Freshman Blythe Bowman led their effort with a 162 total. Freshman Claire Smith added 170.
LADY HIGHLANDER BASKETBALL: Lady Highlander Basketball is about to finish up the 1st round of district play. Both the Freshmen Red and Green teams are off to a great start and are looking to bring home some 9th district championships when it is all said and done. All the girls continue to improve each and every day! It should be an exciting 2nd half of district.
As we approach the last game in our first round of district, the Lady Highlanders JV team is still rolling rather smooth with just a few minor bumps along the way. The Ladies currently hold an overall record of 18-3 and a district record of 3-1. Hard work pays off continues to be their motto as they strive daily in practice to perfect their craft and build team chemistry. Each member of the team is constantly showing improvement and has played a major role in the team's overall success. However, in the past few games, Kinzey Wessner has taken her defense to another level to join our anchor Lily Mitchell. While Regina Contreras and Aurora Hernandez has put on a show on the offensive end. Juliana Vaquera and Keira Stanberry are flying under the radar with their added presence on the offensive and defensive end! Good Luck tomorrow ladies as we continue our journey and keep up the great work!
The Lady Highlander Varsity has gone through some heartbreakers and come up just a bit short in a couple games this first round of District, but these girls are still looking to battle and make it into the playoffs. They aren't looking to back down from the challenge, and it should be a fun 2nd half of District play. Payton Findlay has really started to get hot behind the 3 point arc. Laura Haas and Piper Findlay are continuing to step up their defense while Alejandro Merodio and Tehya Rubio's all out hustle and fight on the court has been great to see from the point guards as they lead the team. Brianna Dickson, Ashleigh Dixon, Anna Orr, Bella Moore, and Campbell Biggerstaff are also big offensive AND defensive threats depending on the night. That's what is special about this team. Everyone contributes in their own special way each night, and just wants to do what is best for the team. They will look to seek some revenge in the 2nd half of district and grab some wins back. Go Highlanders!
BOYS BASKETBALL: The top Freshman Basketball Team (Green) continued its winning ways with a 62-49 defeat of Grand Oaks on Tuesday night. This moves the Freshman Green record to 21-3 overall record and 7-0 in the district. Freshman Green will be on the road next, taking on the Conroe Tigers on Friday the 21st.
The sophomore basketball team wrapped up another successful week in district by beating Oak Ridge at their place on Friday, 1/14, and Grand Oaks at home on Tuesday, 1/18, moving their record to 13-5 (7-0 District). Big game on Friday, 1/21, as they travel to take on Conroe. Next week, they finish the second round of district with College Park and Willis.
Boys Varsity Basketball just beat Grand Oaks last Tuesday night 53-34 to move into a 2 way tie with them for 2nd place in our district. We have a huge game tonight at Conroe 7pm. Next Wednesday is our Teacher Appreciation night and we would like to invite all Faculty and Staff to our games (4, 5:30 & 7pm). We play College Park and they are currently in the 1st place spot. Please come support our guys as we try to make the State Playoffs for a 17th consecutive year.

Highlander Registration Information for 2022-2023 School Year:
The Parent Elective Fair and Information Night is now virtual. Links will be posted on www.twhs.conroeisd.net beginning Monday, January 24th after 4 pm. Parents and students will be able to watch teacher/subject area videos, look through class descriptions, and peruse other course information as their time allows. In addition, two videos will be posted from the Counseling Department. One will be a general overview of high school and graduation requirements and the other will be for families interested in learning more about Dual Credit via Lone Star College.
Parent Registration Help Night for all Grade Levels (incoming 9th through 12th grades) will be held on Thursday, January 27th from 4:30 – 6:30 in a virtual format. Families will still be able to “meet” individually via zoom with a counselor. Families may zoom in at any time between 4:30 – 6:30. Counselors from all grade levels will be available to assist parents and students individually with their online registration questions. The zoom link with directions explaining how to join will be posted on our webpage: www.twhs.conroeisd.net. Counselors look forward to answering your questions!
TWHS has kicked off Blitz Week and teachers will have through next week to give their advisements for next year’s core classes. Parents and students will be able to see those advisements on their four-year plan tab on Parent Access Center (PAC) and Student Access Center (SAC). In addition, elective teachers are visiting with students during this time discussing the various programs in their departments.
Step One for the Pre-registration process is the paper course selection worksheet. Students in all grade levels will receive a paper course selection worksheet through English classes for 9th grade, Chemistry classes for 10th grade, and English 3 classes for 11th grade during the week of January 24 – 28th. On these worksheets, students will be able to see what the course choices are for their upcoming grade level. For example, seniors have more choices of electives than the incoming sophomores and juniors.
Step Two for the Pre-registration process involves the use of a computer, phone, or tablet. The online registration window is open from January 24 – 28th. Students and parents will need to login to their Students Access Center (SAC) or their Parent Access Center (PAC) to complete the registration process online. The courses can be found under the 4 Yr Plan tab for each student. The student’s paper copy can be used as a resource to aid parents and students in the course selection process. Parents, please make sure the courses in SAC or PAC are correct by the course selection sheet deadline of January 28th.
Step Three for the Pre-registration process involves your student meeting with their individual counselors. The upcoming individual student conferences with counselors are scheduled for the months of February, March, and April. All current 8th -11th grade students will meet one on one with their school counselor to finalize next year’s courses and discuss their four-year plans. At the conclusion of the conference, the student (or counselor) will text or email a screenshot of their course selections to their families. In addition, they will discuss other topics that are pertinent to each grade level. For instance, upcoming juniors will hear about taking the SAT and ACT next year in the spring.
Other Registration Dates/Deadlines:
Friday, April 1st – course verifications available
Thursday, April 14th – Dual Credit Registration Deadline per Lone Star College. All paperwork and required documents must be turned in to the student’s counselor before 2:30 pm.

CLINIC NOTES:
If your student has received any vaccines this school year, including their COVID-19 vaccines or booster, feel free to send a copy or screenshot to the clinic at school so that we can have it on file (this is optional). You can also email it to aransley@conroeisd.net, or slorr@conroeisd.net.
For graduating seniors, please be sure to request a copy of their vaccine record to be picked up by your student or emailed to you. This needs to be requested before the end of the school year; we are not available during the summer, and we do not send vaccine records directly to colleges or universities. Most colleges and universities require a second dose of the Meningitis vaccine that is received on or after the 16th birthday.
New district guidelines were put in place on January 14th that include information on what to do if your student tests positive, has symptoms of COVID-19, or has been a close contact to someone who has tested positive. All students who test positive for COVID-19 must isolate at home for 10 days from their first day of symptoms, or for 10 days after the date of their test if they do not have symptoms.
For the most up to date information, as well as instructions on how to report a positive test, please refer to the Roadmap to Remaining Open on the Conroe ISD site: https://www.conroeisd.net/roadmap-to-reopening/
Thank you for all that you do in supporting our efforts to keep our students healthy and in school!
