Welcome to the very first edition of an exclusive newsletter for our fellowship. I am very excited to launch this newsletter which will inform and inspire you on a monthly basis about our fellows achievements and scholarly activity. In addition to that, we will also be sharing important life events/updates about our fellows so that we can all celebrate them together as a family! See you all in the next cycle :)

Vidit has been busy this year traveling across the state, country and even the world, presenting projects he has been passionately working for the past year. His focus is mainly on GI malignancies and geriatric oncology. Some of his achievements is listed as below.

Apart from being busy as our Academic Chief Fellow and being a doting father to 4 lovely kids, Dr. Gregorio's passion lies in medical education and geriatric oncology.

He recently conducted a Geriatric Oncology Needs Assessment of a Multidisciplinary Care Team in a Collaborative VA Setting

- This work was accepted for poster presentation at SIOG this year (pic below). Dr. Gregorio says,

"My poster is a multidisciplinary needs assessment of clinicians evaluating practice patterns, implementation of geriatric oncology principles, and identifying the perceived needs of clinicians in the care of older adults with cancer"

Dr. Ananth presented her abstracts at leading conferences like ASCO, ASTCT this year and also has an upcoming poster for ASH 2022. Her research predominantly focuses on disparities in hematological malignancies amongst underrepresented minorities as well as the geriatric population. She is also passionate about the representation of women in academia and leadership and conducted the first public database study on gender disparities in the stem cell transplant workforce. Amidst a busy UH Hematology inpatient service, Dr. Banwait managed to fly cross-continent for a week to present his research work at SIOG this year. The objective of his research was to better understand frailty and geriatric outcomes in older adults with Hepato-biliary-pancreatic tumors using comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA).

We kickstarted the very first ASCO wellness session for this year, last month under Dr. Dyurich. The introductory session conducted at the rooftop of UH was a refreshing breath of air and helped us discover each of our strengths and to tap into them when we need them the most.

After 10 years of courtship, and 3 years of official wedding, Dr. Lee finally wedded her husband, a cardiologist in Houston in a beautiful traditional ceremony in South Korea. The pictures are straight out of a movie set. Wishes to the power couple!

As a part of our wellness lunch initiatives, we are doing a series of ethnic lunches to honor the diversity of our fellows and also an excuse to try different cuisines from authentic sources.

We started with Indian cuisine this week and our fellows didn't mind getting their hands dirty for some delicious dosas, bhatura's and pain puris :)
