The Importance of Good Attendance
Many studies have been conducted on the importance of school attendance. Research indicates that students who attend school consistently make strong connections to their teachers, their classmates and the school community at large. This helps establish an overall positive connection to school, which can last throughout their academic years. Furthermore, the data shows that children benefit from the structure and continuity of positive attendance and tend to be more engaged throughout the school day.
● The bottom line: to be successful in education, students must show up each and every day that school is in session!
● We know that every student can be successful if they work consistently and reach out for help when they need it! The important part is to take the first step and show up. Your student’s education is important to us, and we need and value their presence.
● We all know how easy it is to get into bad habits. However, it is just as easy to create good ones! Students who attend school every day and work consistently each day/week understand the material better and make ongoing progress. This leads your child to succeed!
Tips for positive attendance habits:
~Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.
~Lay out clothes and prepare backpacks/materials the night before.
~Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up.
~Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session
~Don’t let your child stay home unless they are truly sick.
Thank you for your support as we work towards ensuring success for all of our students.
Each trimester, teachers nominate a student from each department that exemplifies our PBIS character word of the trimester. These students were rewarded with a pizzza celebration with a staff member of their choice. The students chosen for "respectful" behavior were:
Annora Smith, Joshua Black, Hunter Morgan, Sophia Nakhla, Cooper Beeson, Olivia Swanson, and Silas Elliott. Congratulations, students!!
In addition, students that had at least 80% attendance rate and 0 tardies were also recognized with a game day celebration in the library. We had 150 students who met this criterion.
Campus Access
All visitors must check in at the front office in the A building during school hours. The Shelton High School campus is not open to community use during school hours, unless prior arrangements have been made with school administration.
Things to Remember
Deliveries at School
Deliveries to students will not be accepted at Shelton High School. This includes items such as: Food/Drinks, flowers, balloons, money, and personal items. Delivery services such as Door Dash and Uber Eats are not allowed on campus. This includes deliveries placed by parents or guardians, unless preapproved by front office staff. These items are also not allowed on the school district buses. A parent/guardian may come to the front office to deliver something to their student. In that event we will call the student down so the parent can hand off the item. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for all Highclimbers.

Parchment requires use of a NON-SCHOOL email and the only payment option is the use of a credit/debit card. Please have these available when requesting your transcript.
- Current Students: DO NOT use your school email when registering with Parchment. You must use a non-school email or you will not be able to access your account.
- Former Students: Cost is $4.40 per transcript ordered. Requests are usually fulfilled within three business days of receipt of payment, but please allow two weeks for delivery.
- In the rare circumstance the desired recipient does not accept electronic delivery and the transcript must be mailed, there will be an additional charge.
- We try to process transcript requests within 3 business days after we receive them. However, during certain high-demand times throughout the year it can take longer. Please allow extra time, 2 weeks in most cases, for your transcript to reach its destination.
Users will be notified by email when their request is complete and can also track the status of their request or view a saved copy of their transcript.
Click on the Parchment logo to proceed to the ordering site:
Skyward
Skyward is the student information system that the Shelton School District uses to house student information and their official grades. It is a great source of information as teachers, school staff, and administrators share information via email in the Skyward message center. Parents/guardians also have access to student grades, attendance, and other critical information to help assure academic success.
If you do not currently have a Skyward account or are having issues accessing your account please contact Aaron Joseph at ajoseph@sheltonschools.org.
Canvas
Canvas is the Learning Management System that our teachers use in their classes. Parents and guardians can set up their own Canvas account and link it to their student’s account to monitor progress in the class.
For instructions on how to set up your parent/guardian account or on how to link to your student’s account go to https://shs.sheltonschools.org/information/c_a_n_v_a_s.
If you are having trouble accessing your parent/guardian Canvas account or have other questions please contact June Dhamers at jdhamers@sheltonschools.org.
If you have questions about content in the Canvas courses contact the teacher for that course.
Staff Directory
In the event you need to contact a teacher you can find their email and voicemail number on our website (Staff Directory) under About SHS at the top of the main page, then click on Staff Directory. Email is the preferred method as teachers can check those throughout the day. Please allow 24 hours for a teacher to return your email or call.

Clubs and Activities
ATHLETICS
Athletic Schedules
Registration for Athletics
Shelton High School Athletics uses Final Forms, an on-line athletic registration program.
This program allows parents/guardians to register students for athletic activities that require a participation packet. Parents/Guardians will register their students, upload documents required for athletic activities, provide required/pertinent information, read and e-sign documents, etc. The Athletic Office will be able to efficiently manage eligibility, forms submitted, physicals, payments, and rosters. Coaches will be able to increase their efficiency of viewing registrations, organizing teams and rosters, sending notifications to their students, as well as parent communications.
REGISTRATION PROCESS:
Parents/Guardians will need to go to – Shelton-wa.finalforms.com. This site can be accessed from computers and cell phones. Go to “Parent Login” and you will then be asked to create an account and/or login if you already have an account. SHS will have computers available for you to use if you do not have access elsewhere. Once an account is created you will add your athlete and be able to manage their athletics. You only have to have one account for your family and then you can go to the account and add all your athletes on one account if you have multiple students.
