September Tiger Tidbits
September 2024
Principal's Message:
Welcome Back to School! As we settle into the new school year, I want to take a moment to express my excitement about the journey ahead. Whether you're a returning family or new to our school community, we are thrilled to have you with us.
This month marks the beginning of many experiences, learning opportunities, and friendships for our students. Our dedicated staff has been working hard to create a nurturing environment where each child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to fostering a love of learning and ensuring that every student feels valued and supported.
As we kickoff the new school year, I encourage you to stay engaged with your child's education. Communicate regularly with teachers and reinforce the importance of learning at home. Together, we can make this a fantastic year for our Little Tigers.
Please keep an eye out for upcoming events and important announcements in this newsletter. Your involvement and support are key to our success and I look forward to working together to make this school year one to remember.
Thank you for your partnership and trust in our school.
Warm Regards,
Caryn Coscia

Atlantic Health System - Back to School: Preparing for the Impact of Social Media on Your Kids Mental Health
As we gear up for the upcoming school year, Atlantic Health System is most excited to share our latest resource, a video program where three well-established experts discuss the Impact of Social Media. This new tool was developed to provide ongoing support and information directly to our communities in an easily accessible and shareable way to ensure it reaches as many people as possible.
Preparing for Back to School: Does your checklist include the impact of social media?
Back-to-School Checklist:
- School supplies
- New Shoes/ Clothes
- Organizing new schedules
- The impact of social media
Yes, Preparing for the impact of social media on your kids’ mental health. We know parents have so much of their to do list and this may not be one of them. However, it is important to note kids today constantly asking for the latest smartphones, newest apps and becoming increasingly preoccupied with their use. As parents, it can feel like you’re losing touch with what they’re doing in the virtual world.
If you have teens or kids heading to college, you have been witnessing the impact of social media for some time now. If you have younger children, you will want to get informed and be prepared. This issue is going to be on the back-to-school checklist for a while as the influence of these devices and social media platforms has become increasingly pervasive and powerful when looking at mental health in youth.
Just like teaching your kids how to safely cross the street, safe social media use is just as important for kids’ health and wellbeing.
We invite you to view Atlantic Health Systems Community Conversation Preparing for the Impact of Social Media on Your Kids' Mental Health moderated by Luke Margolis, Atlantic Health System Director of Communications with Atlantic Health System experts: Beth C. Natt MD, MPH, MBA Chair of Pediatrics, Goryeb Children’s Hospital; Overlook Medical Center System Medical Director, Pediatric Service Line; Atlantic Health System; James Scherer, MD Medical Director, Addiction Psychiatry, Overlook Medical Center
Christopher Lynch, PhD Psychologist Director of Pediatric Behavioral Medicine Goryeb Children’s Hospital/Atlantic Health System-Children’s Health as they explore the health concerns, science of addiction and the clinical implications of social media. This program will help families prepare for the impact of social media on kids’ mental health.
