Warrior Weekly News
A Weekly Newsletter for Warrior Families and Students
August 30, 2024
Greetings Warrior Families and Friends,
What an exciting week at MHS!
The buzz of the start of the school year picked up STEAM (that is a pun!) this week as we had our Warrior Mentors lead our incoming freshmen through our Warrior's 101 event. The Mentors shined as they spoke about what it means to be a Warrior and shared about all of the great opportunities available at MHS. To hear the pride of our upperclassmen speak about MHS, made me so proud. Needless to say, it was a great event and the Class of 2028 is ready to rock it!
On Wednesday night, we hosted the Ribbon Cutting event for our new construction. The turnout for the event was amazing as visitors were greeted by our cheerleaders and drumline hyping the crowd. They were thrilled by the talents of our robotics students. Additionally, our Student Council and National Honor Society Students acted as guides for visitors. Throughout the event, I had the privilege of giving tours and meeting many community members. As I spoke to former students, parents, grandparents, retired staff, local business owners, etc., I was moved by the pride of our great community and the connection everyone feels to MHS. The stories were amazing. The consensus of the visitors is that our students are going to have many incredible learning opportunities. For me, the event connected the great past of MHS to the bright future for our Warriors. The support of the whole Muskego community is part of what make MHS a great school.
One last bit of information is related to Homecoming. We have Homecoming week a bit earlier this year. Please see the information below to help you plan for the exciting week. Homecoming at MHS is a fun time and I hope everyone gets involved. Every year during the Homecoming Pep Assembly our students honor our current and past service members during our homecoming pep assembly. Please email Mrs. Michels (genevieve.michels@muskegonorway.org) if you have a friend or family member who attended MHS and is currently serving or has served in the US Military. Please email a photo of them, their name, their graduation year, and their military branch. This is an incredibly powerful tribute to those that sacrifice for our country.
We are ready to kick of the 24-25 school year. Let's go!
Go, WARRIORS!

Safe Driving Video
Looking ahead, we will be sharing a video created by our FBLA students to help students better understand the need to make safe choices while driving. The video will be shown during Homecoming Week to serve as a strong reminder about safety.
Know that we want all of our students to be safe and understand the power of choices as they are learning to drive and gaining experience behind the wheel. Please reach out to your student's counselor if you have any concerns with the video being shown to your student.

In an effort to increase student engagement and promote a positive learning environment, MHS will continue its focus on appropriate cell phone use during school hours. Providing guidelines for responsible cell phone use promotes classroom engagement, encourages academic honesty, and develops positive classroom and social interactions. For more information, review the Policy 5136 - Personal Communication Device.
