Panther Express
Week 3 (9/5-9/8)
Cook's Corner
Dear Dry Creek Family,
Happy Labor Day weekend! No school on Monday! We'll see everyone on Tuesday!
Thank you for coming out to Parent's Back to School Night on Wednesday! From those that checked in using the QR codes, we had over 750 students' parents sign in - that's roughly 75% of our families. From my vantage point and after chatting with teachers, we think it was well over 85% and closer into the 90s. Thank you parents for taking your valuable time to come and invest in the educational lives of all of our students. It's not like this everywhere and we're proud to have the type of relationship that is centered on what's best for kids and grounded in teamwork and trust. It's going to be a great year!
We had a fun-filled Friday with our first rally of the year! Our cheerleaders got us pumped up and our Student Council leaders, Mrs. Bernhardt and Ms. Bruno, organized an exciting rally for the kids. We introduced each of the grade level teacher teams and the kids got to see that how competitive teachers are when it comes to playing games, too. Mr. Panther made an appearance and pumped up the crowd...maybe he snuck in a few hugs here and there, too. Check out the Instagram or Facebook Reels by clicking on the links for a quick video of today's rally.
Grandparent's Day is a week away! This is one of the most special events of the year and we don't want our Panthers to miss it because the date got away. The deadline to order the group tickets is this coming Wednesday. The charge is $3 per person paid online using PermissionClick. Check out the flier below or click on the link for more information and to order. We will be serving Costco muffins, coffee, juice, and milk. Pictures with Larson Brothers Photography will be in the Old MPR.

I'd like to give a shout out to Coach Raymer and the Girls Volleyball Team for their outstanding performance at today's Buchanan High Girls Pre-Season Volleyball Tournament. They played each of the Buchanan Area elementary schools in a round robin tournament and I must say they looked impressive! The girls were serving overhand and I loved how they controlled the ball on defense with 3 hits. We have extremely large teams once again and it is very difficult to decide which athletes should make A, B, & C teams. Our B teams are very competitive and could beat many A teams if given the chance. It's a good reminder to all athletes to keep their heads held high and to be proud of themselves regardless of the A, B, or C team they are placed on.
Next week the Cross Country team will travel to Alta Sierra for their pre-season race on Friday. It's a great test of endurance and an opportunity to get the nerves out before the first league race the following week. Football will travel on Friday to Pinedale for a practice scrimmage and then play in the Clovis-Fresno Y's Men's Football Carnival on Saturday! This will be the 49th year of the Elementary Carnival and our athletes and cheerleaders are excited to perform at Veterans Memorial Stadium. It's a tradition that I had the chance to play in as a 6th grader and I still remember what it was like to play in Lamonica Stadium on that Saturday morning in September in 1989.
Finally, thank you for making vast improvements by not parking along curbs in front of the school before the start of the day. It helps to speed up students to get on campus when cars do not clog the curbs. I would like to point out that we are having a problem with families lingering on campus after drop off time and allowing their children or younger siblings to play while school is in session. Please remember that visitors are not permitted to be on campus unless inside the classroom with teacher permission. Please make your way off campus once your essential business has been completed. This is for your student and our entire staff's safety.
In Your Service!
