New Year: Prioritize Success and Well-Being
Greetings, GCHS Families!
As we wrap up Semester 1 and step into the new year, let’s stay committed to supporting our students’ success and well-being. With the semester winding down and finals next week, it’s an important time to check in with your student about their grades and progress. Regular attendance is crucial; each day in class helps build the foundation for academic achievement as well as developing the life skill to show up! Encourage your student to monitor their time management skills to balance school responsibilities and other obligations. Equally important is their mental health—take time to check in with them about how they’re feeling and let them know it’s okay to ask for help if needed. Below is a button with links to several resources available to students and families. Please connect with me or any teachers with questions or concerns. Together, we can finish the semester strong and make 2025 a year of growth and success!
Happy New Year,
Mrs. Shannon

Update on GCHS's 5 Resolutions/Goals for 2024-25
Now is a great time to consider how we are doing on meeting this year's goals.
As of 1/3/25
1) Teachers are showing their dedication to being lifelong learners by continuing to grow in their craft and develop learning targets that align to essential standards. This helps ensure highly effective teaching in every classroom.
2) 74% of students have passed all classes in 9-10th grade
3) 77% of GCHS students are passing all classes
4) 76% of students are attending more than 90% of the time.
I invite you to have a conversation with your student about where they fall in these statistics.
5) 91% of students report they have a trusted adult at GCHS
Infinite Campus is a great tool for parents/guardians!
Please pay LUNCH bills! This can be done on Infinite Campus or in the office.
Please Note: We run a different schedule during Semester Testing days.
- All students report to testing periods (green on schedule below)
- Testing occurs on Wednesday afternoon for periods 5 - 8. Students have Open Campus Wednesday morning 1st - 4th periods IF they are passing those classes! If passing classes, students should arrive by 11:35 for their first test (11:10 if they'd like to eat lunch at school). (Students who are getting an F in morning classes will report to the appropriate teacher during the period they are failing - see schedule below area in red - for remediation with the hope of getting the grade up.)
- Testing occurs on Thursday morning for periods 1 - 4. Students have Open Campus Thursday afternoon 5 - 8th periods IF they are passing those classes. (Students who are getting an F in those classes will report to that teacher for remediation during periods 5-8th - see the area in red on the schedule below) School lunch served at 12:05.
