Dear Oakdale Families,
Only one week until one of our MOST FAVORITE events occurs: Family Feast 2024! We invite you and your family to join us for this amazing meal prepared by our cafeteria staff and served by volunteers from Oakdale Baptist Church and our 8th grade class. The Oakdale Church of Christ will also be helping clear tables and cleaning up afterwards. The 8th grade class will be collecting tips for their service projects, so make sure to bring some extra cash! We appreciate this time with our community so much. It really is one of the things for which we are the most thankful.
Chromebook charging:
This is a reminder to set an alarm to make sure you child is charging his/her chromebook each night. Teachers are seeing an increase of dead batteries which hinders a student's ability to access necessary items.

A Note from the Nurse
Reminder: All medication at school needs to be kept in the office with a completed Authorization for the Administration of Medication Form (AAMF). The exceptions for medications: asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, and pancreatic enzymes may be carried by the student with a completed Authorization for the Administration of Medication Form filed in the nurse's office.
From the Oakdale Student Handbook:
An Authorization for the Administration of Medication Form (AAMF) must be completed and returned to the school before medication can be administered by school personnel. The only medications students are allowed to carry and self-administer during school or school activities are asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes and replacement pancreatic enzymes, and a completed AAMF form is required.
If your student has a health condition that may affect their school day, please complete this form:
Sequoyah Book Contest Info
The Oakdale Middle School Library's Sequoyah Contest is underway. I have a few more classes to talk to on Monday, but most students have been given the information. If students choose, they can read Sequoyah books and receive prizes throughout the year. See the attached graphic for specific dates and prizes. Students can listen to audiobooks, read an e-book version on a device, or read a physical book for it to count in the contest. Since students had a preview of the books at our Sequoyah Book Kick-off on Oct. 11th, they are very excited and ready to get started!
Reading from the Sequoyah List and participating in the contest are completely optional and not required in any way.

In November, guidance classes will address Gratitude and Kindness!
We had a week filled with kindness as we celebrated National Kindness Week!
We had a Kindness Mix-It-Up @ lunch day on Wednesday! We mixed it up with the 2nd-8th grade students. This was difficult for some, as change can be hard. This offered an opportunity to teach that sometimes in life, situations arise that we aren't prepared for-if we approach it with kindness and a good attitude, it can make the situation a little easier! Overall, we hope the kids had fun!
Reminder, an amazing way to spread kindness is to have your kids go through their toys/clothes before Christmas and donate them. This provides a wonderful opportunity for others to have more to choose from when shopping for their kids before Christmas!
Have a beautiful weekend!

Hello 8th graders!
Coming up next week is a wonderful opportunity to volunteer as a group.
Sunday, November 16th, from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon
This is taking the place of a social for the month of November. We are so very fortunate at Oakdale, and giving back is a good way to share with others.
Please talk to your parents about volunteering and reach out to Mrs. Ashford if you or your parents have any questions. If you need a ride in order to participate, please let her know! She needs to confirm numbers by tomorrow.
Thanks,
Doctora
Dear 8th-grade families,
It's still early days, but we wanted to get these dates on your calendar. As you know, Oakdale is an elementary district [we don't have a high school]; therefore, our students can go to any public high school in the state, by law. Most of our students choose to go to Edmond Memorial High School, and Edmond has a great relationship with us. They send a bus to our area to pick up our high school students and make an effort to ease our transition. Here are the dates that Edmond has for us:
