Message from Mrs. Phelan
Dear Families,
We have had an fantastic week filled with very good student conduct and engaging activities. From field trips to class presentations, and culminating in exciting end-of-year parent events, our school community has been buzzing with energy and enthusiasm.
One of the standout events of this week was the highly anticipated Spring Concert, a showcase presented by our talented Fine and Performing Arts Department that captivated our community. Our students displayed remarkable skills and dedication as they showcased their musical talents, demonstrating significant growth and learning in their study of various instruments. Their performance was a testament to their hard work and the support of our school's arts education program.
With tremendous gratitude,
Stacy
Lowell Learning Garden
The Lowell School Learning Garden serves as a dynamic educational environment where students and teachers collaborate, discover, and nurture growth collectively. Within this vibrant space, students are inspired to engage in hands-on learning experiences alongside their classroom teachers and gardening experts. While we promote active participation in the garden, we kindly request that it be respected as a purposeful area dedicated to fostering the cultivation of plants and insects with care and humility.
To maintain the integrity of the garden and ensure a safe and enriching environment for all, we kindly remind everyone that the garden and its resources, including the water pump, are not intended for unrestricted recreational use. We value the purposeful engagement of all individuals within the garden and encourage children to explore under the guidance of accompanying adults.
Additionally, we kindly ask that all individuals refrain from utilizing the garden equipment except for designated gardening activities. By upholding these guidelines, we collectively uphold the essence of the Lowell School Learning Garden as a sacred space for cultivating knowledge, fostering growth, and appreciating the wonders of nature together.
Curriculum News
Part 3 -What does Wit & Wisdom look like in the classroom?
Next year, students will participate in literacy Modules for Wit & Wisdom where students deeply study topics like Outer Space or America Then and Now. The modules are centered around engaging texts. Students develop knowledge about the topic as they simultaneously learn vocabulary and grammar. In each module, students write about what they read and articulate the meaning of each text in formal and informal discussions with their peers.
Wit & Wisdom notes: ‘By reading engaging texts and participating meaningfully in their learning, students develop the knowledge and skills they need to be successful readers, critical thinkers, and effective communicators who love to learn and can succeed in college and careers.”
You will continue to learn more from your teacher about the specific Modules and topics that your student is learning in September!

Golden Leopard
We are amazed at how many students have been spotted! We are so proud to see children in the school working hard to demonstrate their commitment to our core values.
The Golden Leopard reward was created to celebrate our students. If a student earns a leopard spot for each core value in one week, they will receive the Golden Leopard reward.
They will receive a special certificate; their names will be announced during the morning messages and appear in the family newsletter.
During this week, we had two students that earned the Golden Leopard. Please congratulate Fransesca McManus and Noula Levas!
