MHS STUDENT & FAMILY NEWSLETTER
Week of November 18 - November 22, 2024
RSU 57 & Massabesic High School
"Preparing students for success in an ever-changing world."
Hello Mustang Nation,
A special thank you to the entire NJROTC Unit, Captain Howell, Chief Lipp, and Cadets Emily Deshaies (Grade 12) and Daniel Harriman (Grade 11) for organizing and hosting a wonderful Veterans Ceremony on Friday, November 15th. A link the recording of the ceremony is linked below.
Mustang Time Reset For Next week - We have appeared to have lost our focus on the use of Mustang Time for academic intervention, making up work, and appropriately connecting with our peers and teachers during this block. Students wandering and general aimlessness of this block needs to be addressed and reset across the board. Therefore, in this coming week we will not be permitting movement during the Mustang Time block (with one exception described below for International Education Week and administration approved meetings). Students will report their assigned Mustang Time at the beginning of the block and will remain their for the duration of the period. Passes will not be issued - please don't ask. Students intercepted in the hallways or not reporting to their Mustang Time classroom will be referred to the main office for disciplinary action. We need to refocus our efforts on reporting to our assigned classrooms correctly and consistently before we can move in a direction of using this time more creatively.
This coming is INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK with an emphasis on the benefits and experiences of hosting International Students in schools. We are fortunate to have some wonderful international students attending MHS with us this school year. As a way to celebrate the culture of other countries and societies, our four students will be hosting special presentations during Mustang Time Monday-Friday of this week. Teachers will decided if their Mustang Time group will be attending a presentation and the entire Mustang Time group will report to the presentation together escorted by their teacher (who will attend the presentation as well). The schedule is listed below and flyers later on in this newsletter:
Monday, Nov. 18 - International Education Week Presentation in the Auditorium by Sofiya Frey, Ema Stankova, Joana Torres Reis, & Anna Ceriani
Tuesday, Nov. 19 - Slovakian Dance Activity & Presentation in the Gymnasium by Ema Stankova
Wednesday, Nov. 20 - Ukraine Presentation in the Auditorium
Thursday, Nov. 21 - Brazil Presentation in the Auditorium by Joana Torres Reis

The MHS Theatre Troupe will be performing their rendition of 'Miss Holmes' this weekend - see the flyer below for more information.

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE COMPETITION
On Monday, November 18, we will be starting a food drive and partnering with the York County Shelter Programs to help distribute Thanksgiving food boxes. We are looking to make this a competition between Mustang Time/Homerooms. Students can bring in non-perishable food items and store them in their homeroom. We will collect the items and tally them every day. Thank you for your support of those struggling with food insecurity.
