Prairie Lane Families:

We are excited to continue progress at the site of the new Prairie Lane Elementary! NEW THIS MONTH: your first look at the interior of our amazing new school! (Photos attached)

Major construction work is wrapping up with finishes being installed in preparation for final cleaning, building inspections, and commissioning. Furniture and other items will be moved into the building in February, and items from the Swing School location will be moving to the new building in February and March. We still anticipate our grand opening for students on April 6, 2021. Westside Community Schools

We are planning to move into the new facility this spring taking advantage of our district’s Spring Break and other strategic dates to help make this happen.

Below is the transition plan we intend to use. As with most things this year, this is subject to change. We plan to allow our teachers and staff three days to prepare for and unpack from the move.

NO SCHOOL for Prairie Lane students on Friday, March 19th
o All other district schools will be in session
o Prairie Lane teachers and staff will be working on the move
NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, March 26th
o All other district schools will be in session
o Prairie Lane teachers and staff will be working on the move
DISTRICT-WIDE SPRING BREAK IS MARCH 29th – APRIL 2nd
NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, April 5th
o All other district schools will be in session
o Prairie Lane teachers and staff will be working on the move

TUESDAY, APRIL 6th will be the first day of school in the NEW Prairie Lane

We realize many families might be facing stressful situations financially as a result of the global pandemic. Our social worker, April Anderson, has many resources available to families including assistance for the internet or a hot spot, food bank information and more.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to her if you feel you could use some assistance.

• Please note: There is a charge for EXTRAS, WATERS and 2nd MILKS

• If you'd like your child to eat breakfast at school, we ask that they should be here between 8:10 - 8:15 am, so they do not miss out on important school time.

Be sure students bring coats, hats and gloves

so they are comfortable outside at recess!

Remember, Students must have snow pants AND boots

to play in the snow.

Keep saving your Box Tops and bring them into the office.
