Phalen Flyer
PLA@George H. Fisher School 93
Greetings PLA Families,
Thank you to those families that joined us last night for our Family Literacy Night. Mark you calendars for our next family event. Trunk or Treat on October 29th from 4:00pm-6:00pm.
Our 2nd-6th grade scholars attended their first "Spin the Wheel" ceremony this week. This event takes place about every two weeks. Scholars are recognized for their hard work on their weekly assessments. Ask you child about their experience!
Almost all of you have returned your Parents In Touch (P.I.T.) form with your preferred conference time (Thank You). A confirmation time will be sent home with your child on Tuesday, September 24th along with their progress report. Conference times were assigned in the order which they were received. We attempted to get you as close to your requested time if the one you chose was not available. Our goal is to have 100% of our families come to school on P.I.T. Day. If you foresee a conflict in your schedule, please reach out to your child's teacher as soon as possible.
Next Friday, September 27th PLA93 will begin hearing and vision screenings for all scholars.
Our Community Spotlight this week is Feeding America. See below for more details.
IPS will be distributing the Panorama Survey between 10/28/24 and 11/22/24 to scholars in grades
3-6. Parents have the option to opt-out of this survey. IPS will be sending notifications to all of our families about this option on September 5th and again on September 26th. If you do not opt-out, your child will take this survey at some time during the window. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mr. Hendricks
Principal-PLA@93
School Attendance
We love seeing your child's smile in school everyday! When they're absent or tardy, they're truly missed. We know mornings can be hectic, so here are some tips to help make getting out the door a little easier:
Lunch: Help your child decide their lunch choice the night before. If your child brings lunch from home, pack it and store it in the fridge so it's ready to grab in the morning.
Clothes: Lay out clothes for the next day the night before. This simple step can help avoid last-minute frustrations, like discovering that their favorite uniform shirt is still in the washer.
Sleep: Elementary-aged children need 9-12 hours of sleep each night. With our early school start, aim for a bedtime around 7:30-8:30 p.m. to ensure they're well-rested and ready for the day.
Wake-Up Times: Establish a consistent wake-up time that allows for a calm and relaxed morning routine. Adjust this time based on how long your child needs to get ready without feeling rushed. By incorporating these simple strategies into your routine, mornings can become a smoother and more positive experience for everyone. We're excited to see your child's bright and cheerful face each day!
