Dear Panther Families,

I would like to extend a Panther welcome as we enter the 2023-2024 school year! I am privileged to be part of a community where families, staff, and students care for each other and strive to build relationships that support academic and social growth.

We are "One School, One T. E. A. M." working collaboratively to ensure our "One Dream" of student success is achieved. Wednesday August 30th- All PreK Students Attend!

Parents will be notified of teacher assignments prior to Kindergarten Open house.

Families with bus-riding students are encouraged to complete the Student Intent to Ride Survey regarding school bus transportation needs for the upcoming school year. The survey must be completed by Wednesday, August 2, 2023, in order to be included in the initial bus route for the first day of school which is August 28. Students who complete the survey and are eligible for transportation will be assigned to a bus and routing information will be available at Open House, August 24th or September 1st.

This year, CCS is excited to introduce a way for you to submit beginning-of-the-year forms online via Ecollect Forms, a data collection system integrated into PowerSchool. If you have more than one student, instead of filling out a separate packet for each student, multiple questions can be answered for all students electronically at one time if their information is the same. Returning student registration can be accessed from your existing Parent Portal account in PowerSchool. PowerSchool Ecollect Forms, a secure online form, saves you time! Built conveniently right within PowerSchool Student Information System (SIS), it makes it easier than ever before for you to access and complete these annual forms within the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Don’t have a Parent Portal account? Please contact Walker- Spivey for your student PreK- 5th grade to receive a Parent Portal letter in order to set up an account. This is a required step before you can access the PowerSchool Ecollect Forms. You will also have access to review grades, attendance, and state test scores in a timely manner online.

While these forms can be completed by hand, the Ecollect process in the PowerSchool Parent Portal offers an opportunity to complete and easily update them immediately online.

• Bell Times

7:15 AM- Bell for students to arrive on campus

7:30 AM- 1st Bell for class to begin

7:35 AM- Tardy bell/ Student must be signed in by an adult

1:30 PM- Student check outs end

2:10 PM- Student dismissal

• Breakfast

Breakfast is served from 7:15 AM- 7:45 AM

• Safety

For the safety of students please remember no parking on Fisher Street. All vehicles will need to come through the car rider line. Adults will not be permitted to walk up with students during arrival or dismissal.

• Immunizations and Physicals

All students (especially Kindergarten) must be up to date with their immunizations. Any kindergarten student missing a physical or immunization record will be dismissed after 30 days.

• Dress Code

Walker-Spivey students do not wear uniforms but must follow the Cumberland County Schools Dress code for students. Students will not be permitted to wear slides, shoes without a back or shoes with lights, wheels, or noise making capabilities. Attire must not be revealing, or have inappropriate designs.

Sept. 13th-Lunch with Loved Ones for 1st and 3rd grade

Sept. 14th- Lunch with Loved Ones for 2nd and 5th grade

Sept 14th- Title I Curriculum Night Back to School Bash (5:00 PM-6:30 PM)

Sept. 22nd- Progress Reports Go Home

Sept. 25th- School Improvement Team Meeting 2:30-3:30PM
