Happy New Year and Welcome Back! We hope you and your family had a restful and joyful holiday season. As we step into 2025, we are excited about the opportunities and growth this year will bring for our students, staff, and school community. We have another busy month. Please read the following things that are happening on campus.
As part of our commitment to supporting each student’s academic growth, SMS will be administering the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) tests for our middle school students on the following dates:
English Testing: January 21 & 22
Math Testing: January 27 & 28
The MAP test helps us understand your child’s current academic levels in key areas such as reading and mathematics. These assessments are essential tools that allow us to modify instruction to meet your child's unique learning needs and track their progress over time.
To help your child perform their best, please ensure the following:
They get a good night's sleep before the test.
They have a healthy breakfast on the morning of the test.
They bring a fully charged device and any required materials.
The UIL Academics Meet will be held on January 25 at SMS! We are excited to see our students showcase their talents and hard work. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to our dedicated staff for their incredible effort in preparing our students for success. We need your support with hospitality. Please complete the link to help us provide meals for our volunteers on this day.
Unfortunately, our school spelling bee has been postponed to Tuesday, January 14. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
