Social Emotional Learning and Computer Basics in ESL! π§βπ¨
Students in ESL classes at NLMAS are not just learning English but also computer basics skills such the fundamentals of Gmail, Google Drive and Docs. Through interactive exercises and hands-on practice, they're building confidence and proficiency in navigating these essential tools for academic and professional success. Teachers in ESL classes are also fostering student emotional awareness and self-expression through creative Social Emotional Learning activities geared for adult learners. Recently, students in ESL 3 engaged in a unique SEL activity by expressing themselves through painting. The vibrant colors on their canvases reflect the diversity of their experiences and emotions, creating a supportive environment for personal growth and connection.

BETTER
Whatβs Next?
Each day is an opportunity for each one of us to reignite the fire and passion within to work towards reinventing ourselves into the people we imagine. In simple terms, we are traveling the road to better, and our assignment is to be better by becoming better (nicer) people, being better neighbors, better in pursuing our educational and career goals, better in our friendships and relationships, better in taking care of ourselves and family, and better in enjoying our lives to the fullest each day.
Our job is to get better every day, so whatβs next?
What area in your life would you like to elevate and move to the next level of better? (Be honest)
_____ Physical Health
_____ Exercise
_____ Healthier Meals
_____ Increase Water Intake
_____ Sleeping More
_____ Personal Relationships
_____ Career/Education
_____ Finances
_____ Spirituality
_____ Recreation/Hobbies
_____ Community
_____ Home/Family
_____ Personal Development
_____ Reducing Stress/Anxiety
_____ Work/Life Balance
_____ Managing Anger/Over-reacting
_____ Other
So, I ask you, whatβs next?
The first step to better is acknowledging that there is a need for better in specific area/s in your life. The second step is designing an action plan with specific details including what you will do and when. In making your personal action plan, you may need to do some research, seek help from a professional or a certified life coach. Guess what? Itβs okay to say, βI need to get better!β The truth is that we all need to get better in one or two areas in our lives.
Now that you know that you can and will be better, whatβs next for you? The answer is taking time for honest reflection, identifying areas for improvement in your life, designing your personal action plan and finally, applying your plan. ( R.I.D.A.) Do it today, my friend!
My Action Plan
