Kindergarten Harvest Celebration
As a reward for positive behavior in October, kindergarten celebrated with a Harvest Fest/ Fall Spooktacular. The students rotated through each of the 6 kindergarten classrooms participating in a special activity in each room. Mrs. Detz read the story The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything and the students retold the tale using props and rhythm sticks. Students then completed a directed drawing of a scarecrow. In Mrs. Lutz's room, the students played a Halloween-themed bingo game with candy corn. As a BONUS prize, everyone got a candy corn treat at the end of the game. Ms. Cooper facilitated a yoga routine. Mrs. Anderson turned her room into a bat cave, where the students took a virtual tour of a bat cave and then made bat hats to wear and take home. Mr. Lesniak held a Monster Mash dance party. In Mrs. Verbecken’s room, the students decorated cupcakes to look like monsters with green icing, confetti sprinkles for scales, and lots and lots of eyes. Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to November’s monthly motivator just before Thanksgiving Break.

Paper Plate Continents
In Mrs. Arigo’s first-grade class, students have been learning about the seven continents since the beginning of the school year. During reading, they have been discovering how children throughout the world receive books. After reading each story, students were able to explore where specific characters live. For example, Ana from Waiting for the Biblioburro lives in Colombia, which is in South America. As the class looked closely at the continents, students learned how to identify them in order from biggest to smallest. Students also learned about the different types of animals that live on each continent, as well as which oceans surround them. To conclude their study about continents, each student painted their own paper plate globe, colored/labeled the continents, and independently wrote a sentence about a continent.
